CLIFFE COTTAGE - Countryside Cottage in Castleton, Peak District National Park

Location was really good. Within close proximity to village shops. Also stone throw from Peak Cavern. Parking was also nearby.

Bed mattresses need replacing, they weren’t the most comfortable.

Location was central to our activities.

The cooking utensils could have been newer.

Very comfy house, great location, peaceful, well equipped and cozy. Castleton is a beautiful village, with great pubs.

Amazing location, close to Castleton centre, but away from the road.

Fantastic location, 5 mins walk to village centre and in a lovely quiet spot. The 3 bedrooms and all the beds were clean, comfortable and well appointed. The kitchen and lounge had everything you'll need for a self catering break. There are some iconic walks direct from the cottage without the near to travel further afield. The pubs and cafe's of Castleton are very close and there are plenty eating options if you fancy a break from self catering. The home made pies in the Cheshire Cheese pub are a must try. The curry cabin in near by hope village is also very nice, it doesn't serve alcohol but you can take your own from the spar next door. We actually brough pints in from the pub directly opposite, odd but great. The cottage has a parking pass for the near by car park which is a couple of minutes walk from there to the cottage. Overall great for couples or a small group like ours , the place could accommodate up to 6 people at a push, I'd gladly rebook again.

Whilst it wasn't a major issue the electrical shower wasn't great and it was difficult to maintain a steady comfortable temperature, the bath on the other hand was fine. We tried to get the heating on one day but only the upstairs radiators got hot, as it was our last day we didn't contact the owner but I think this needs investigating.
