Skye Cottage, Meadowside House, near Kingussie

Absolutely lovely cottage only very slight irritation was that the shower had an unnecessary soap tray which got in the way when showering Obviously this did not detract from the beautiful cottage and it’s stunning surroundings.

The cottage has character and was in a good location for exploring the Cairngorms. The beds were comfortable, and the bathroom and kitchen clean and functional. The living room was cosy.

The decor did feel a little tired and dated, and there was a lack of any of the luxuries (like tea, coffee, milk etc) that we'd experienced in similar places on our road trip.

Very quiet and close to a lot of attractions. Cottage was clean with all the utensils we needed.

Hahaha lyd wasn't keen on the spiders.

Perfect location to visit the Highland Wildlife Park, which is literally on the doorstep (a three-minute walk to the main gate). Plenty of countryside and mountains to explore in the heart of the Cairngorms, with the communities of Aviemore, Kingussie and Newtonmore nearby. The property also provides informative lists of places to visit, activities to do, and restaurants - including a highly recommended chip shop! The electric shower gives immediate hot water, and the cosy lounge and comfortable beds were much appreciated after days out exploring the hills and mountains.

If you're seeking hot water from the kitchen taps, look for the wall-mounted hot water switch on the wall opposite the sink. We didn't notice it until later on in our stay.

Lovely location and within walking distance of the zoo. Parking outside the house & outdoor seating.

Couple of issues during our stay ... Firstly was the smell in the house when we arrived (stale food/curry smell). It was a warm day when we arrived so opened all the windows but it didn't remove the smell. We were concerned if the house had been cleaned, why could we still smell it? There was no hot water, which we didn't notice til the 2nd night of our 3 night stay, as we'd been using the dishwasher. Also the couch was uncomfortable & gave me backache & despite the bed being comfortable, I was unable to sleep. We made the decision not to stay for our 3rd night & notified the owner of our concerns. They said there was nothing they could do about the smell or water but would look into replacing the couch.

The property is in an excellent condition. It gives a nice and cozy feeling for the small size family.

Great location, comfortable and well equipped accommodation. Simple,and straightforward process to book, arrive and depart. Great vase for access to the surrounding countryside which is spectacular.

The character of the place

Nice quiet location, easy to park and carry our bags into. All cottage was on the same level. Had a nice homely feel and offered all the kitchen amenities we needed. Had lots of sockets in the right places :) Main bedroom was nice and spacious and loved all the windows, kept it nice and light. Very relaxing stay.

shower seemed a bit basic and maybe needs upgraded for a better water flow.
