The first week of January the hotel was overflowing with people. They did not have enough restaurants or food available for people. Our stay with two kids was a nightmare. While people were nice, the service was awful because they were understaffed.

The Breakfast was outstanding everywhere we ate. The Laguna buffet was awesome, Brisas was really good and even Cafe Maya was excellent!

A great family vacation destination. This was our second time staying at Fairmont Mayakoba. The beach and the resort are beautiful! The restaurant choices are delicious; Tauro steakhouse being our favorite.

When looking at reviews, one should consider each person has individual likes, dislikes, experiences, etc. that may not be the same as yours. This review is based on my personal preferences. First - The Resort. Beautiful, peaceful, well kept, and smells great! The beach is well maintained with great amenities and service. Second - The Staff. Every staff member from the concierge down to the maintenance workers were polite, always smiling and helpful. The staff here are excellent. Third - Food/Restaurants. Now I am a basic kind of food person, but certainly could find great food to eat across all the restaurants. My family are foodies and raved about all the dishes they had. The flavors, presentation, and service were impeccable. One night at the steak house, my wife's order wasn't done to her liking. Didn't make a big deal about it as we had enough food. A minute later the chef came out with a replacement dinner (without asking) to make sure we were happy (and we are low maintenance travelers). So overall if you want a peaceful, relaxed, classy vacation in the Cancun area, Fairmont Mayakoba is highly recommended.
