Luxurious Apartments - In Cardiff

We are a family of four and have stayed in three different flats and one hotel during our holiday. All the other places have been spotless and well-equipped. Unfortunately, this time was different. When we arrived at 7 PM, there were no bed linens for the sofa bed, even though we had booked for four people. There were only two bath towels and one small hand towel for all four of us. I tried to call the host, but they hung up on me. I then sent an email, and the host replied that there should be bedding in a cupboard — but we only found one single duvet with a dirty duvet cover (photos available), and no fitted or flat sheet. A kind neighbour from the flat upstairs offered us a single duvet and a cover. The sofa itself was unclean and smelled unpleasant when unfolded, and it was very uncomfortable to sleep on. The floor had not been cleaned properly (photos available). The window facing the street could not be closed, which made us feel unsafe. There were only two drinking glasses in the flat and not enough cutlery for four people. The toilet was dirty, with hair from previous guests left behind (photos available). There was also a hole in the living room wall. During the night, a neighbour started banging on their door, and the next morning another person was screaming loudly, leading to the police being called. The owner offered us to leave early and get a refund for the night we didn’t stay — but gave no guarantees. There was a large concert in town (which was our main reason for visiting Cardiff), and starting to search for a new flat just four hours before the concert was simply not realistic. By midday the next day, we received two towels, one flat sheet, and one single duvet cover. So we continued using the neighbour’s bedding and sheets. When we booked, the flat was advertised as a “luxurious apartment”, but during our stay the name was changed to “comfortable apartment.” In reality, it was neither.

Location was good and it was spacious

A number of things faulty (shower, kitchen bin lid, banister tops, toilet seat) or missing (cleaning products, fire extinguisher, dining table). Overall not in the best state of repair or cleanliness

The bathroom. The drainage was blocked and dirty water goes in the sitting room. Only provided one one bath towel to 5 people tried and they didn’t put even a toilet brush. Very disappointed. We couldn’t take a shower. Also bed sheets was not clean will not recommend to any one.

Unfortunately at 2am this morning somebody was trying to get into our apartment they tried the door handle several times and then sat banging on the door it woke my children up and scared my wife. They eventually left after I reluctantly confronted them at the door there were about 4 people In the car and the driver told me he thought his friends were staying here. And then to top it off we got woke up again at 6am by somebody else in one of the apartments thinking it’s a good idea to start banging or moving stuff around all morning

The price

It was definitely not clean, the sheets were grey-ish and had stains… had to call to ask for things for me as I think they forgot that we were 3, had also to ask for extra toilet paper (as only left a bit of roll), asked for detergent to wash the dishes which was not provided, so had to wash the dishes with my hands and shower gel… but overall disappointing stay as I hate staying in a place I suspect it’s not clean
