Somerset Lodge, a secret hideaway

Very friendly area and Giles, the owner was just great.

Location excellent. Wee bit hard to find but once you did find it was easy from then on. The lodgings were excellent, clean, tidy, cosy. excellent.

No hand-soap in bathroom in dispenser on sink. Could maybe think about an outside sensor light at side of house. As we arrived at night and it was dark, we found it difficult to reverse car in. My wife had to go out with her phone torch/light to actually guide me in. Would have been nice if there had been some milk, water in fridge on arrival. It's these little things that would move this property up to a 4-star, from a 3-star, which in my opinion, it is.

This beautiful little lodge is hidden away from the main roads but thanks to excelent communication from Giles, the host, we found it without an issue. He has sent us very clear instructions on how to get to the property, where to park, and how to self check-in. Inside the property, there is a more detailed welcom guide that made it easy to work out bathroom lights/heating etc. The place is completely self-sufficient and equipped with necessities for a short stay: kitchen with all the cookware, iron, hair drier are provided. The location is idillic so we made use of the private terrace to have a coffee and went for a wonder around using the suggestions from the guest guide provided by Giles.

There was a bit of a mix up with the towels not being changed before we arrived but this was quickly sorted again thanks to excellent communication. Another minor issue is that there was no mobile reception so we had to walk to the main road to get enough bars for a phone call to the taxi servie. This was in no way the fault of the property, just something to be aware of and perhaps can be added to the guest guide: if you know you will need a taxi, you will be able to book and pre-pay it ahead of your stay using the local service.

Very cosy, comfortable, clean, everything you needed was there. Powerful shower, Peaceful location. 10 minute drive to the Park & Ride into Bath City, bus every 15 minutes. Be prepared for very narrow windy lanes, but that's to be expected due to it's gorgeous location.

A very quiet location, pretty garden surrounding lodge. Great for a few days escape from the city. Comfortable bed, very good shower. The surrounding countryside lovely, wish we'd had more time to explore.

Access a little tricky if you have a large car, as lanes narrow.

This is a fantastic place......a real gem of a hideaway for a couples, its sooo quiet and peaceful, for couples looking to escape for a weekend. The place has so much room and is easy to get to. Being roughly half way between Bristol and Bath makes it a ideal base to explore.

Absolutely nothing to dislike....cannot fault it at all
