Residenza D'Epoca -Santa Caterina

This marks our third visit here as we are drawn by the stunning aesthetic of the residenza that evokes a miniature palace. The cleanliness is impeccable, and Ivanka, the owner, consistently ensures you have a pleasant stay. You have coffee, fruits and nice paestries for breakfast, too. This residenza has always been reliable and it is perfectly situated for exploring local restaurants and major landmarks by a short walk distance. The owner also helped us to book a taxi for the next day to arrive to the airport on time.

Lovely room with beautiful features, including a painted ceiling. We were given helpful instructions for meeting the owner at the property and he was very welcoming. There is a room with coffee, snacks etc available during the stay. Bathroom was clean and modern. Location was great, about 5-10 minutes walk to the Leaning Tower. We only stayed one night but would definitely return if we visit Pisa again.

We just stayed one day in Pisa and Residenza D'Epoca was a great choice for us. The hotel interior is very beautiful and everything looks new and very well taken care of. Ivanka is the owner and met us during check in, gave us all the instructions and also recommended places to eat. There are a lot of good restaurants and cafes around which are out of the tourist zone traps around Pisa tower. Everything is within walking distance. Bed was super large and comfortable. Shower was great and wifi worked well.

It was not an issue for us, but there is no lift in the building, so you have to take stairs. The hotel is on the second floor of the building.

I was given no checking in information, we arrived at a closed door with no way of accessing the property. If there was no reception I would of expected to of received an email telling me how to get in. I didn’t receive anything and I arrived with my son with no way in. We had to go and check in to a nearby hotel so I have paid twice and I have received no response from booking. Com really unhappy and won’t book on this site again this is the third time I have had really bad experience with the site

Lovely - full of character and very clean. Great location. An extra surprise - the tea coffee and cake provided. Ivanka could not have been more helpful and charming - calling us a taxi and being very kind.

The location

No pre arrival communication from the host. Lack of visibility of the host. We had to call twice to get the host to come and let us in to the property. We arrived at 2.30pm which was the check in time. The bathroom had next to no shelf space and the shower tray was missing a shelf so everything had to be put on the floor in the shower. I am not a big person but I could barely turn around in the shower it was so narrow. No curtains in the room just some outside shutters that let in light in the morning. We had to ask twice for the WiFi password and eventually at 10pm we received a message from the host with the password. It was little or no use then. I received an email from Booking.com at 10pm saying that the host of the property had advised Booking.com that my credit card was invalid and had been declined. This is completely incorrect as I had used the same credit card earlier that afternoon to pay the host and she gave me a receipt and confirmed that the payment had completed. I received a further email from Booking.com the following morning saying that my booking had been cancelled due to an invalid credit card. Clearly that was not correct either. This was by far the worst accommodation experience of our two week Italian road trip. In summary we would never recommend this property to anyone and would never stay there again.

The location, decor and host were all great.
