Seagrass Cottage in Southwold, Stunning Property with Views!

Bedding didn't smell or feel fresh. I had to wash the pillow cases & protectors it as it prevented us all sleeping well on the first night.. would have done all the bedding but there was no way of drying it in time for the same evening. Otherwise, the home was clean. There was a smell in the house from the bedding... I had to air the property frequently.

Nicely laid out house with very good, modern facilities. Bedrooms were spacious with excellent beds. A good, spacious bathroom.

We visited whilst the weather was chilly. The heating was controlled externally. This meant that hours of warmth were not in our control. As we arrived the house was very cold. We rang our host's agency and a representative was dispatched quickly. The latter quickly determined that the owner used the 'Hive' app and needed to be alerted to our stay. This was done and the house became warm. We went to bed late, at 1am and so didn't rise until 10.30. We found the house was becoming chilly. We then found that the heating was set between 7 and 10 in the morning and between 4 and 10.30 during the evening. In effect we were being told when to be in and both out of the house. Our trip to Southwold was infact structured around evenings with our extended family at a different rented property. We again rang and got a positive response from the agent. We were reassured that guests SHOULD be in charge of the heating. We received no further update but the house did warm up. The next day we were returned to the owner's Hive override. We were left cold before and after lunch and after 11 at night which is when we planned to make most use of the property. All the many positives about the property were tainted by the feeling of being cold. We should add that we have other negatives about the list accommodation but these are less crucial than the issue highlighted. We are still irritated and resentful about our experience.

The house was absolutely stunning, beautifully furnished and decorated. It was a short walk into town and the beach. Southwold is such a lovely little village.

The TV was very small and didn't have anything besides Netflix which wasn't great for some family members.

The location made for an easy walk to the pier and into Southwold. The house was very well renovated, light and airy. The patio at the back was pleasant. The shop on the corner of the street is exceptionally well provisioned, an lovely surprise.

A stunning property with views is not the same as a property with stunning views. You can just see the sea from the upsairs bedroom window. Just saying don't misread the headline. On the second day of our stay (Sunday) a lightning strike nearby took out the internet and TV signal. The internet was finally fixed on Wednesday, it turned out that the router was an obselete model. Although this has been replaced with a new one, the signal isn't great throughout the property. Thankfully because of the good weather we weren't housebound. One of the pans in the kitchen needs replacing, the non-stick coating was peeling off rendering it useless, but everything else was good. Oh, and there are not a lot of buses to and from Halesworth train station, but that's for information, no fault of the property.
