Retreat on the Green

Gorgeous little home and perfect for our group. Loved the style and it was lovely and cool on such a hot day.

The only issue we had was the shower. The water pressure was very weak and temperature kept changing on us. The settings of the shower head too meant water would go all over the floor for every shower which got a bit slippy.

The location was great, the condition and general appearance of the property was great, no complaints. The facilities were spot on, hot water, TV, kitchen facilities ie dishwasher etc, very comfortable. Only a minutes walk away from two very nice village pubs. The property is set in a very nice location, traditional English village green. I would highly recommend this property.

On street parking is not very good, first come first served but you will always get parked if a couple of minutes walk away.

Location was excellent. Close to amenities, nice and quiet.. 2 local,pubs if needed. Walking distance to national trust property

Everything was exactly as described. Property was spotlessly clean, with everything needed for your stay.Thoughtful touches, welcome pack was well received!

On arrival 5pm first impression were fine.. we entered realised straight away kitchen hadn't been clean.. crumbs and lots of them still in the cupboard from previous people.. cups were all stained from coffee. Went to use bathroom, hair in sink, and slim all around plug.. floor was full of hair.. nothing had been mopped of hoovered.. Had to call the host as no hot water or heating she didn't answer the phone, but straight away sent a message saying , "Please text ' replied saying Please ring regarding the situation, which she then did The Setee creeked and very uncomfortable to sleep on. Pull out bed mattresses not comfortable in room, very thin mattresses. Plug beside settee health and safety, literally coming out the wall. Mini bar - nothing topped up. Was supposed to stay 2 nights, left after 1. This place could of been lovely if it was clean and comfortable beds.. For £300 pound expected alot better

Very good location and the size of the property was excellent. Host was responsive when we messaged re: boiler.

When we arrived on Saturday at 6pm there was no hot water nor heating. I contacted the host who gave instructions on how to use the thermostat. Unfortunately there were issues with the boiler. I was asked if I could fix the water pressure as she is not technically minded. I wasn't able to fix it so we spent the night sat in coats ( outside temperature had dropped to 4 degrees). I tried again at 6am and managed to fix it, but one of the radiators still did not work. When we headed off to bed, the bedside lamp was broken, there was a dead insect lying between 2 pillows and the duvet had scorch marks on. There was also a stray black hair on the sink in the bathroom. The slats on the bed moved several times during the night (several people have mentioned this). The sofa was also very uncomfortable and made a strange crackling noise - (other people had also mentioned this and I wish we had paid more attention to the reviews). The owner dropped off a fresh light bulb and fan heater and bottle of wine after 10.30am on Sunday morning - this was kind of her, but as we had already gone out, it was difficult to talk this through in person which would have been preferable. On Sunday night, the noise from the people upstairs at 3am was absolutely unbearable - we got up and left at 5am. We left the wine behind.
