The Lodge, Monkstown

Beautiful view of Cork port, convenient to bus stop for going to Cork ferry port.

Very comfortable place, has a really nice bed and bathroom. The room has a nice view and the owner is really kind.

I liked the location. It is a stunning place. The room was beautiful and cosy. The finishing touches in the room were 100% perfect. I liked the quirky old style wardrobe. I liked the fact that water was supplied each day. I liked the extra touch of a birthday card, and the present from the host. It was very humbling to receive. The bed was very comfortable, and the quality of the linen was more than I am used to. The bathroom was very modern and stylish with high spec finishes. The hosts were very attentive and helped make my stay one that I will remember for a long time.

I find it hard to write this because it was my 1st break away in a long time, and I don't want to seem critical. But when I 1st booked the lodge through the booking. Com website I thought that I was getting the full lodge to myself. It was only after correspondence with the host that I got an idea that other people would be staying there also, and it was the room in the lodge that I had booked and paid for. Also, while I was there, I noticed that the lodge had a front living area that looked like it was being renovated, but it was off-limits. It would have been nice to be able to have use of an area like this separate from the bedroom. Finally, the distance from the lodge to somewhere to get something to eat and drink is too far if I want to get a drink. Now I'm not a big drinker, but as I was celebrating an occasion I would have liked the option to either have a drink with my food and walk home or know that there maybe a local taxi that would be able to provide that service. Oh, one last thing the bathroom could do with an extraction fan as it might not always be an option to leave the window open when using the shower.

Location.

No toiletries, no soap or shampoo except leftovers from previous guests. No heat turned on in the rooms. No breakfast available.

Host was always available over phone or message for any queries and service. Host was very organised.

Access to Kitchen could have helped to heat some sandwhiches or food.

It was amazing - the welcome was familiar and the host was extremely friendly - explained everything and had some good tips for the dinner :)
