Nice onsen.

Although we enjoyed our stay, we felt Azumaya needs updating facility and meal plans.

This is a tired hotel in a declining onsen town. I paid a high price for the tiny room I got. The onsen was great though.Spacious. Happy hour good too with locally crafted beers and varieties of fruit sake. Breakfast buffet was a discovery for a Western stomach. An unusual opportunity to observe how individuals and families behave. A good thing is that the (free of charge!) Green Echo bus stops right outside the hotel to take you to Okama's Crater. I was not lucky with the weather and saw nothing but wind and rain but the quaint station up there was very atmospheric. Glad to be the only Westerner in town. Found, on a receptionist's recommendation, a lovely place to eat: Saku. Good to see heaps of school kids rushing into the hotel on Saturday night. They were coming for a judo competition. Observe how different they are to Western teenager crowds. Great cultural experience to be able to witness it all. Worth the slight disappointment in view of the expectations arising from the hotel's advertisement.

The town of Kami no Yama is a beautiful sleepy little town with schools, restaurants, and neighbourhoods of its own. But whats more is the story, they have their own castle museum and the Samurai district too. The staff was very nice and helpful, their open drink bar was very good! The room we got wasn't anything to write home about, there wasn't anything wrong with it, but it was very normal. It was the perfect getaway retreat from the bustling cities of Tokyo, Osaka and Sendai. And the onsen was very nice too!

Nothing bad about this ryokan or this location. Its a great location, the service was great, we weren't served any food that I could complain about. If I had to pick something, it would be the elevated bathroom, makes tripping very easy.

街中で迷ったので、案内板などがもう少しあると、助かったかな。

従業員の方がとても丁寧で対応がよかった。インクルーシブでお酒を気兼ね無く飲めるのはとても良かった。

マッサージチェアが女子風呂の前にあるので、若干男性が使用してると目線が気になる。

食事と温泉が良かったです。
