Kami no yama Azumaya

This place is amazing. We stayed with big group and had a great time. Very clean and friendly staff. The place is perhaps a bit outdated but has lots of character. Great onsen. Good breakfast. Free drinks included!

The breakfast buffet was tasty and the public bath with tatami were nice. The Hotel surroundings are good for strolling and enjoy foot bath and local izakayas.

It felt like a scam. The room was advertised at 80.000 Yen with a -50% discount. I was so happy to offer myself a great room to stay for 3 nights of relaxation. What a deception to find a dirty business hotel room, when I expected a high quality stay in a Japanese ryokan according to the gorgeous pictures on display. There was bad stains on the bedroom floor, the air conditioner filter was filthy, and TV was 40cm wide... More over, I discovered after, that the same room at full price on the hotel website was even cheaper than the bargained price on Booking.com. That is basic robbery. To add to the nightmare, the private baths are horrendous : from floor to ceiling, both are filled with mold. The smell is so pungent that it felt bad to get naked. They know about it, since they put inefficient dehumidifiers and perfume in the room to try to hide the smell. It was still horrifying. The state is so bad they should close the access: I would highly recommend people with breathing issues to avoid those bath at all cost. Confronted, the director whom told me they had no plan on investigating that problem further, nor renovate the rooms.

I choose this property for all the good reviews and the great sounding of the onsen. Onsen was fine - natural spring, surrounding area is just countryside.

The room 412 was pretty in a poor state. It needs some attention. Now I did not have a room with the onsen so I hope those rooms are better than mine especially for the price I paid for one night. If I were to go back there, I would choose the other hotels next to it.

Very easy to get to from Tokyo with a direct Shinkansen. Drinks are available at the lobby bar and during dinner and included in the price.

Outdoor bath was bit disappointing in size and also in terms of privacy.

The onsen on the roof was fantastic. Warm water and cold wind outside was wonderful. The rest of the hotel as also amazing. A nice castle nearby and a foot bath next to the hotel.

Service was exceptional and staff were very good .
