Lovely hotel, great attention to detail, and great food.

Beautiful large and clean room, bed was super comfy

Shower was cold and nowhere to plug the hairdryer and use the mirror at the same time

We thought we would give this place a try, as it was just for the one night, and are so very glad we did.From the moment we arrived, we were met with nothing but a helpful attitude and friendly smile. We turned up a couple of hours earlier than check in , expecting to sit in the bar , and then have a stroll , but were informed that our accommodation had already been prepared , and we could go straight to our room & settle in. We then came down ,found a couple of comfy wingbacks by the fire and enjoyed a drink, and the charming atmosphere.We passed on lunch & had a lovely siesta instead, as the weather wasn't very good at all. it was then time to change and head down to dinner.We made our way to the bar first, where Anna & Clare happily looked after us ,and as we were comfortable, they took our dinner order and said we would be found when our food was ready to be served.That impressed us. A few minutes later Myla came to collect us, and showed us to our table.As nice as it was, we asked if we could be seated by the fire , and so after checking, Myla informed us that that would be fine.There was no face pulling, or sense of her being arritated, just a professional, helpful manner.In fact, Myla dealt with us much of the night, and also for breakfast, and was a credit to the hotel. As for the food, it was fantastic....so fresh & tasty , and portions were just right.Along with the buzzy atmosphere, roaring fire,decor etc we haven't enjoyed a dinner as much for a long time. We had our dog with us, so after a quick evening walk, we brought him in to the bar to say hello and make new friends , while we had a nightcap.Anna and Clare were still on duty , and took to our boy , gave him treats, fussed over him ,and even had a little photoshoot ( he is a looker). After a great night's sleep, in our beautiful room, we were sad to be leaving, but had already decided that we would be returning for a longer stay, and sooner rather than later.

Cooked Breakfast was excellent and the room was excellent

Would have preferred self service for the breakfast first course, I.e cereal, fruit etc. The bed was slightly smaller than we are used to.
