Vrede en Lust Estate

Good location. Nice outdoor areas where you can sit in the evening with a glass of wine. The place is clean. The restaurant was very good on the first night, but not on the second — probably a human factor. Breakfasts are good, filling and tasty.

In one room, the hot water issue was not fixed during all 4 days of our stay. The staff tried to explain why it happens, but honestly I am not interested in the physics — I just need a hot shower. The problem was not solved. Also, there was a tractor working right outside, removing vineyards and starting construction at 7:00 am every day. This is quite strange — it would be much more reasonable to let guests sleep until 8–9 am and then work later. During the day, the work often stopped anyway, so it was unclear why it had to start so early. Overall, the project itself is beautiful and well designed, but the staff does not match the level. I even wrote an email after the stay and received no response, so I am leaving this review here. Also, there is no gym — it is only available in the Residence, which is a separate property.

Absolutely beautiful surroundings. The staff were very accommodating. Friendly and helped with our concerns. We will be back.

The room size was good and nice views of the mountains. Staff friendly. Good location. Very good food.

The wifi strength in our room was very poor, almost useless. Standing at the door you could sometimes get two bars. The TV reception was almost poor, possibly for same reason. This spoilt out stay. The shower door didn’t fit properly though was minor

The accommodation is superb. Elegant, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, it strikes the perfect balance between luxury and warmth. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and genuinely warm throughout our stay. Nothing felt forced — just authentic hospitality delivered with pride and professionalism. The grounds are immaculate, peaceful, and quiet — the kind of environment where you can sit with a glass of wine and simply take in the surroundings. There is a sense of calm and understated elegance that runs through the entire estate. Franschhoek offers many beautiful places to stay, but Vrede en Lust stands apart. It has a quiet confidence and sense of class that makes it feel like a hidden gem among the many options in the valley. Quite simply, we would not choose to stay anywhere else when visiting Franschhoek again. An unforgettable experience — highly recommended.

Nothing - I liked everything.

Ein schöner Aufenthalt auf einem Weingut mit einer inkludierten Weinprobe. Saubere, wenn auch etwas kühl eingerichtete Zimmer. Der Ausschankraum und der Rest des Hotels jedoch sehr ansprechend und eindrucksvoll.

Wir haben leider zahlreiche Mückenstiche davon getragen. Die meisten auf unserem Trip auf der Gardenroute.

Spacious accommodation set in beautiful gardens. Attention to detail. Very comfortable. Excellent breakfasts.

The tasting room staff were welcoming and charming. The restaurant and reception staff were cool and indifferent. It took the shine off what could have been the perfect stay
