Varenna is an absolutely beautiful place, from the people to the scenery. I would definitely recommend friends and family to visit.

Unfortunately our long awaited holiday in Lake Como was totally spoilt by Varenna Holidays , partners to Molteni real estate in Lake Como. There was a complete misrepresentation of the property, it had a great location close to Varenna piazza this being the only true statement. The unexpected part is the property is smack bang in the middle of the local fish mongers. This entailed processing and gutting of fish on the lower level then hoisting it up the third level via an external hoist which operated over the main entrance and stairs to the rented apartment. It was then hung on racks outside on the terrace then hosed down allowing all the excess fish water to cascade over the stairs and entrance and left to dry in the sun. The smell from this on a daily basis varied from day to day depending on the heat of the day from disgusting to absolutely fowl. Along with the 6am starts in the morning which started with steel process tables and racks being dragged across the outside upper tiled floor to then shouting from upper terrace to the processing shop on the ground floor between the staff. If this was not enough the property had terrible mold problems throughout even behind the bed head, as so many people who suffered with COVID our breathing is a problem at the best of times this made the problem worse over the 5 days (out of the 9 day booking) their were two couples that stayed at the property. The minor things were no hanging space or draws in the second bedroom meaning living out of a suitcase during our stay. The outside space was presented in a terrible state overgrown no shade such as an outside umbrella dirty furniture all blamed on the amount of rain that had fallen (this property has not been cared for many weeks if not months) All these concerns were bought to the attention of the Varenna holiday company on the second day of our stay and we asked to be relocated immediately to a similar property 2 bedrooms and two bathrooms with air conditioning due to being

I like the location. Having aircon in the accommodation was great as it was very hot when we were there. It was also nice and clean.

You have to go up a few stairs to get to the accommodation so if you have heavy luggage it’s not great . They also have a Fish wholesaler in the complex who will wake you up around 7am. I found the washing machine didn’t spin the clothes very well. Needs better instructions on how to use it.

The location is fantastic, so close to the town square and all that Varenna has to offer. The staff were very friendly and helpful on arrival.

The property smells of damp and it’s visible up the walls in the lounge and kitchen. There are lots of little things that would improve the property, like towel hooks being in reach, a toilet roll holder, the wardrobe rails being in reach (there is a pole to access them which is hard). It rained heavily the day we arrived and the windows were left open so the floor needed mopping. The small bathroom is tiny and has no bench space, there is a big deep drawer on the vanity which we tried to use but it’s broken and hanging by the hinges. The bed is incredibly noisy with every movement. Please note this property would not suit anyone with mobility issues as it is up many stairs.
