La Maison de Colombo

Disclaimer: it was a very short stay for us for 1 night only. We liked the colonial era authentic and true style of the place and the staff were friendly from the limited interactions we had with them. The in-house restaurant was very French-cuisine focused and it shuts down at around 10PM (hotel was upfront about this). It's a decent place if you intend to go out and about in Colombo.

The room, even though upgraded, only had one single couch, which wasn't very comfortable. The only place to sit was the bed, which is covered by the mosquito net, limiting the overall comfort levels. The room is very good if you're spending the best portion of the day outside, but not the best if you're spending a long time inside.

The breakfast wasn’t really of our taste. Why not Sri Lankan breakfast as an option?

This hotel is a truly wonderful place – both a destination and a retreat. The existing architecture has been beautifully restored, and it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring Colombo. Coming back here really does feel like coming home – the hotel lives up to its name in every sense. What really stood out for me was the warm and genuinely friendly nature of the staff – and of the owner himself, if you’re lucky enough (as I was) to meet him and his wife in person. Every little request is handled with great care and kindness at La Maison de Colombo. For me, it was an exceptional stay – one I can wholeheartedly recommend. The fact that the hotel isn’t right in the city centre actually turns out to be a huge plus – it’s wonderfully quiet and peaceful at night. That said, getting into Colombo and seeing the sights is easy – whether you hop on a local bus, grab a tuk-tuk, or take a taxi. All in all, an unforgettable experience – and excellent value for money! Very stylish and warm-hearted!

Nous avons adoré notre chambre spacieuse dans cette superbe demeure coloniale à la décoration raffinée et aux meubles choisis avec goût. La piscine est très agréable et l’ensemble de la maison dégage un charme rare, offrant un contraste apaisant avec le tumulte de Colombo. Calme, sérénité et gentillesse du personnel en font un lieu idéal pour conclure un séjour au Sri Lanka avant de rentrer en France. Un grand merci à Christophe et Pascal pour leur accueil chaleureux et attentionné.

La cuisine française proposée est très bonne et maîtrisée. En revanche, nous avons trouvé le petit-déjeuner un peu en retrait par rapport au reste.

Best in Colombo now i try 2 different time there all are so kind and so tasty food ❤️ and nice Champange ! I 100% go there again

Good location, good decor and aesthetics.

The pillows were so uncomfortable! I got a bad sprain in my neck and when I asked them to replace the pillows they didn’t even acknowledge 😔 We had to leave for Nuwara Eliya at 7:30am the next day, they promised to arrange breakdown for us by that time but instead we just got a few breads/pastries kept in our room the evening before. That too when we weren’t in the room. That was disappointing. We could’ve atleast gotten a properly packed lunch.

There was nothing that i did not like about La Maison.
