Entire Cozy Chalet in Bideford Bay Holiday Park

Comfy beds, nice warm shower, quiet location, good parking, nice walks, great play park, host communicated well, lots to do in surrounding areas

Nothing negative but a few extra little touches would make this really nice, like towel hooks, coat hooks, a mat for inside the front door, a sieve, some leaflets of what to do and maybe a few games.

The holiday park is in a beautiful situation. We enjoyed watching sunsets from the Clubhouse terrace. The breakfast was lovely. I can't speak highly enough of the helpful, friendly, caring and approachable staff. They went beyond.

We stayed in a privately owned lodge if it can be called that. Cosy is the last word I'd describe it. We opened the front door to an overwhelming smell of damp, a humidifier was on. Straight ahead was a paint chipped, rusty fridge that we didn't want to use. There was no cupboards to put food in, it had to be put on a table. The wall heater on the wall under the TV had a large sign saying, Caution can get hot. The sign distracted you from watching the TV. At the side of the TV and heater were several danderous looking plugs. The walls and doorframes had what looked like an amateur coat of paint with dirty coloured paint showing through. The furniture was battered with dirty chipped paint and a chair was wobbly. There was no wardrobe in the bedroom. We had to sleep on the sofa and floor as the pillows were so used. It was disgusting. Do not bring children to this lodge as the heater and plugs are unsafe. A. kettle was left with it's cable hanging dangerously from it's plug on a table that could be pulled and even empty would injure a small child. We moved it to the small workspace. The bunk beds looked like they came from the eighties, with unpleasant mattresses. We reported this to the owner, who did nothing until we told her that we were contacting Booking.com. We left after one night and for the same price we rented a beautiful cottage.

I had a wonderful couple of days and the chalet was really well equipped with fast WiFi that was very easy to set up. It was decorated beautifully and was extremely well maintained and spotlessly clean. I needed a quiet break to relax and having access to an easy dog walk around the park twice a day made this a very convenient place to be. It's so quiet at night and I had two nights of great sleep. Thank you very much. I would recommend this chalet to anyone coming to visit and would like to book it again for future mini breaks for myself.

The damp and not really disabled friendly

The property was in reasonable condition, had basic equipment for a short stay, and linen etc were clean and good quality

The chalet is listed as wheelchair accessible. It is not. The owners have a ramp outside to afford access, but the long footpath leading to it is not wide enough to allow a wheelchair or mobility scooter. The area off the footpath is laid to grass, and at the time we visited, was impassable to motorised vehicles, due to the recent poor weather, making it muddy and not able to take the weight of our mobility devices.

My daughter and grand daughter found the bed very lumpy. Unfortunately. Apart from this all good.
