Casa Amari alla Zisa HOSTEL

There was no lock on the bedroom door. We had booked the balcony view room for couples. The balcony window and door were broken by a previous guest and had not been fixed. The view that was in the ad was the hosts space that would be closed off at times as well as the kitchen. The facilities there were also pay to use. The host disrupted us frequently and told us that the last guest also left blood everywhere and did not elaborate. My partner was interrupted by the host when she was in the bathroom and felt very frightened. We were not given our own method of entry to the property. We were locked out multiple times. There were keys in coded lock boxes, but one was missing, and the replacement key did not work. We ended up leaving and staying somewhere else, and the host continued to message us about their issues.

The host was friendly, but also sometimes not authentic, so I felt strange and like I'm not wanted there. The "hostel" is literally her apartment and you just sleep there and she lives there. When I arrived the balcony was not usable for me: first because of renovation (which happens and is fine) but then it was occupied by the host pretty much all the time. She also became friends with one of the guests (also fine) and they spent time together and were having loud conversations until late. Also the host came into the room several times (like other reviews say) and asked this other guest to watch a movie and the guest thought I'd be invited too to which the host said "no, you, not her!" which is unfriendly and also unprofessional. She also complained to me about booking and that she has to pay for gas, so I also felt bad for using the kitchen and I reminded her I paid for literally that. I spent the second night somewhere else, because I had terrible sleep. Toilet was not checked the next day, no toilet paper for hours. Door impossible to open, so you have to call the host everytime you want to enter, so she also cannot leave? Said it's not working and she will be closing the hostel soon.

Our three-night stay in Sicilia was deeply disappointing due to numerous issues with this accommodation. The owner's demeanor made us feel unwelcome. A significant concern was the lack of keys for either the room or the apartment, making access a constant challenge. We were also disturbed to find the owner had entered our room without permission while we were out. The room itself was uncomfortable due to the lack of air conditioning, making it very hot. There were no storage facilities for clothes. Furthermore, the electricity was unreliable, the apartment was generally unclean, and the photos online did not accurately represent the property. We were surprised by additional charges for basic amenities, including use of the kitchen, coffee, and even water. The checkout process was also unpleasant, with an unsubstantiated claim regarding a mattress that was already in poor condition upon our arrival. Overall, this experience negatively impacted our vacation, and we would strongly advise against staying here.

By far the worst hostel I've ever been. Please, avoid this place. I've been there for 5 nights. The hostel is very dirty and the host kept telling us that the cleaning lady was about to come but she actually never came even when I left. The rooms are very tiny. There was a guy (another client) which was very problematic (very noisy, vulgar, disrespectful) and the host took several days before kicking him out. The host is kind, but had very hard time to manage the hostel during my vacations. I was with 2 other girls that I newly met and she kept asking them to do tasks as if they were her workers. The 2 other girls also hate this place. Even if the hostel is near the historical center, the street is VERY DIRTY (trash everywhere), so you must have very low expectations. I normally don't write reviews, but for this place, I feel like I really need to describe the reality for you to avoid it.

The place was really clean

The mocation is not in Palermo, rather in its outskirt. As I was told by locals the neighborhood is quite dangerous, really really dirty area and not comfortable for a women to walk out at night. The host never appeared as she had a health problem but did not send nobody either. Cherry on the top, I did not sleep as my bed got completely wet as I was right down the air conditioner! Quite a nightmare this experience!!

Everything was fine and I really liked the view at balcony :)

The hostess is so kind and she helped me through a late checkin after my flight had delayed. The room is quite small but it’s great quality-price.
