On the first day of requesting the room to be cleaned we came back to find an object that didn't belong to us on top of our things inside the safe. Being a manager of a hotel myself, I went to see the manager on duty with nothing but good intentions and inform him of what happened as strange as it sounds, it is a very sensitive issue because someone did open that safe while we were out. Unfortunately I was given just standard responses such as 'nobody has access to your safe' which is obviously not true etc. Since the episode wasn't taken seriously as I had hoped, I didn't ask for the room to be cleaned again and ended up carrying my valuables with me all the times as it didn't feel safe anymore. There was no following up from the property until I had asked again closer to check out date.

Gefallen hat und alles. Die Mitarbeitenden der Rezeption könnten etwas freundlicher sein, es ist ja der erste Eindruck den man bekommt. Dafür hat der Security Staff dies um ein Mehrfaches kompensiert.

The keywords to describe my experience in this hotel are disappointment, stress, confusion, dissatisfaction, lack of consideration and nonchalance. I wouldn’t like to come back here; at least not at the rate the hotel is charging. I traveled more than 13 hours to arrive Cape Town only to be subjected to the following conditions in Neighbourgood hotel. The hotel was too expensive not only for the neighbourhood but also for the quality of services and infrastructure provided. It seemed to be an old building which was more or less refurbished into a hotel in a rundown neighbourhood: almost every where I went people were sitting on the ground or approaching me to give them money. The view from my window was an old building whose windows were barricaded. Almost everything about the hotel seems to be an afterthought, for example the receptionist is on the 5th floor and my room is on the 2nd. In order to check in, I had to go with my luggage to the 5th floor and down again to the 2nd. The room I stayed didn’t look cheerful at all - black and dark colours were predominant including the mugs and plates. The floor was badly worn out and dirty; it was an eyesore; the curtains were greyish black and torn at the edges. It seemed as if those colours were used to mask filthiness. The staircase is frightening. No booklet to explain the use of certain machines in the room - coffee machine, cooker, complex oven with integrated microwave. I had to call on some of the workers on 3 different occasions to come and show me how to operate them. The same thing applied to the various buttons which control the numerous lights and ceiling in the room. Noisy area both day and night: my room was located at the angle of 2 roads: noises of cars, horns, people in the street, etc. The so-called inclusive breakfast was a problem as the receptionists couldn’t explain it when I was checking in. It wasn’t clear to them at all.
