Carrick Cottage - Mourne Mountains

Loved the hot tub ,superb views however a cover would help in the wind

The outside bathroom while functional was cold and having to make a trip out in the night was a nuisance

We arrived at Carrick Cottages last night after driving for over 2 and a half hours, only to find that the cottage was already occupied by other guests. In a panic, we contacted the owner Rachel, who informed us there was an error in the booking and mentioned that this often happens. Frustratingly, she placed the blame on Booking.com, even though I had messaged the property via the Booking.com app earlier in the week to confirm our arrival time and received personal replies. At 6 PM on a Saturday night, we were left scrambling to find alternative accommodations, which forced us to pay a premium rate due to the late booking. The host was completely unhelpful and made no effort to assist us in resolving the situation. If you're considering booking here, please be cautious. Our experience was extremely disappointing, and the lack of support from the host only added to our stress and frustration.

It was quaint and lovely location

We arrived and the place was absolutely freezing! The fire was preset for us to light but took hours for the living room to actually heat up, the hot tub took a good 3 hours to heat up, we literally spent the first 4 hours trying to get warm, then woke up the next morning and it was freezing again, this place would be extremely unsafe for someone with a week immune system, also to note the smoke alarm was covered with foil which I'm sure is not safe. I usually wouldn't leave a negative review and put it down to a bad experience but this was actually unsafe and I would like to warn other people before they book, as the heating situation was not mentioned previous to booking. For the price we paid it was ridiculous.

The location and jacuzzi were great. House was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. Would definitely recommend. We loved how quiet and peaceful the place was. The owner was also very helpful when we needed to call her. There was plenty of logs provided for the indoor fire and jacuzzi.

Took around 3 hrs to heat the jacuzzi but that probably couldn't be helped given the cold weather. That said it was worth the wait.

Beautiful Cottage. The views are amazing! Hot tub was great once set up. The man that delivered the logs was very friendly and good at explaining how the hot tub worked. ( took around 4 hours to fully heat) I absolutely loved the character of the cottage. Hosts were helpful and only a phone call away. Plenty of logs supplied. The Netflix on the tv was a great bonus as passed the time when waiting for the hot tub to heat. Chippy 8 mins away which was very handy and food was lovely!

We got interrupted a few times as people walking thought it was still a cottage and just opened the front door when we were sitting watching tv. This happened twice. (Maybe put a sign up for people to know the cottage cafe is closed to avoid further visits.)

Location was amazing for hitting the hiking trails. Cottage was so beautiful and the views absolutely stunning

Bathroom is separate from the house. I didn’t realise this as not stated in description but it wasn’t a problem for me and the bathroom was warm with heater on.
