Birkdale's Hidden Gem

Great value. Good shower. Room cosy. Good communication with host.

Struggled a bit with TV but sorted it fairly easily.

Room was snug, bed comfortable and great value. Good shower.

All was good. No complaints.

The room was exceptionally clean. The hosts had thought of everything. There was a lot of tea, coffee, and sugar. Soap, shower gel, etc, were also in abundance. It was so well-equipped that we were blown away, and the bed? It was like sleeping on a cloud. We have a waterbed at home, and staying away usually means a backache the next morning, but this was amazing! There were fitted radiators, but also an oil-filled radiator just in case.

Parking is an issue here, as there is nowhere on the street to park other than a school down the road with a few bays, which seem okay to use on a weekend, but it is a long way for anyone disabled or unable to carry their luggage up the road. I was also really let down by the level of privacy in the bathroom, as there is no blind or window covering. There is a sticker on the window asking you to open it before showering; however, it would mean standing in front of said window in your birthday suit and seeing children's scooters in the garden, so we felt unable to use the shower. The other issue is that the front door has an oval window, which again is not covered, this woke me 3 am with glaring orange light as the bed is directly in front of it. Eventually, I had to open the bathroom door to block the light from the window. Other than the privacy/light issue the room was lovely and we had a comfortable stay. I would suggest that privacy is addressed urgently.

Convenient for visiting friends in the area.

No washbasin in the bathroom. This meant you had to clean teeth in the kitchen sink, & wash hands there. Parking limited.

Very comfortable accommodation, great that a fan was provided as it was a very warm weekend.

No bathroom sink.

Excellent attention to small details. There was everything you could possibly require. Comfortable and clean. The hosts gave up their personal parking space so that I could park my car, this was a great gesture and much appreciated.
