"overall a nice stay in a quiet village in a beautiful part of Cumbria, great walks all around."

breakfast options were good & as expected, full english breakfast available and other options available on request. Friendly staff, good food and beer in traditional surroundings.

twin beds were quite old and mattresses too soft, an upgrade on beds / mattresses would make the stay more comfortable. Price of an overnight stay was probably above average and didn't quite meet my expectations / value for money.

"Good base for walking with great beer and friendly staff."

Friendly, traditional pub with great beer and a nice breakfast.

Rooms were clean but a bit tired. Evening meal was OK but by no means great, but breakfast was good. Given the local prices for accommodation this was a reasonable deal overall but I wouldn't go there for a romantic weekend!

"Great night's stay. Would recommend as good base in The Dales."

Location great for walking. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast and fantastic evening meal. Dog made very welcome. Good atmosphere in the bar.

Traffic noisy on cobbles at times. Occasional rattly old window.

"Poor management - lack of customer service."

Room comfortable and clean.

Under staffed! Breakfast proved a complete shambles, one elderly lady left to cook and serve all guests on her own. The previous night’s pre booking breakfast system didn’t work. We waited half an hour just for our coffee/tea. When breakfast arrived (45 mins late) the order was only half complete. Two guests ended up helping in the kitchen to speed things up. How could the hotel managers allow this situation to occur? A complete disregard for their paying guests.
