Taj Cape Town - fabulous 2 bedroom near top floor with stunning Table Mtn views

A stunning find in the centre of Cape Town. The apartment is integral to the hotel with access to guest facilities. It is beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable. The main living area and both bedrooms have an exceptional view over Table Mountain and the Lions Head. The immediate local area has visible security and there are some excellent restaurants within a couple of blocks. Highly recommended.

Note that the spa facilities other than the pool are within M/F changing rooms.

Position and size of room, size of balconies, views: with caveats below.

Probably not as important if you were only staying a couple of nights, but we were there for eight nights: The room was very bland. The sliding doors in the lounge seem to have some problem with the sealing, they do not block out the outside noise, which happens to be substantial. The views were blighted by cranes used in the volume of construction work in the vicinity. Curtains do not close fully in the corner bedroom, no matter how hard you try. This leads to light streaming in from the crack of dawn. Important note for others: The day before we arrived, the owner emailed us to state that there would be severe penalties for smoking - including on the balconies. Neither of the two of us smoke, but we both thought that extremely unfair on people who do smoke and have booked a room with a balcony for that reason. That is not information that should be left until the day before arrival, when people have already paid in full but cannot cancel. It needs to be made clear at the outset.

I loved the spacious room. Facilities were great

I didn’t not like that when I checked in, I was told that I had to pay an extra R430 for housekeeping. I had to go back into the booking.com ad to double check this. The price I paid did include housekeeping which somebody else at reception confirmed. The lady who checked us in told us that breakfast ends at 11:00 everyday however when we got to breakfast at 10:45 this morning we were told that it actually ended at 10:30 on a weekday. We had to the rush and fill up plates and some of the food items had already been packed away.
