"The Yellow Nest – Honest review based on our experience"

7.0

The property itself is stunning, offering a peaceful and secluded jungle escape. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and with a huge, comfortable bed that made for a great night’s sleep. While some bugs were present, that’s expected when staying in the jungle, and it wasn’t an issue for us. The food was another highlight. Lunch and dinner were consistently good, and the Signature Dinner experience was exceptional. The five-course meal with drink pairings was beautifully presented, with the chef personally explaining each dish, making the whole experience feel truly special. Held by the main pool after sunset, it was a unique and memorable evening that easily deserves a 9/10 rating. Having easy access to cenotes was also a huge plus. Taak Bi-Ha Cenote, just a 10-minute walk away, was by far the best one we visited. Dos Ojos Cenote, about 15-20 minutes away, was also great, but if I had to pick one, Taak Bi-Ha was the clear winner. As long as you return before dark, there’s little concern about encountering any wildlife along the road. The staff at The Yellow Nest were incredibly polite and attentive throughout our stay. Arturo deserves a special mention for always being available and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed. The gentleman managing the team was clearly doing his best to accommodate all requests, though it was evident that he was overworked. The Chef who prepared the Signature Dinner also stood out—we sincerely hope he knows just how talented he is.

Unfortunately, our experience started with a nightmare before we even arrived. The transportation service arranged by the property was a disaster—three hours late, not the promised shuttle, but a small personal car driven by a reckless "friend" of the management. The driver asked us to pretend we were family, confirming this was an unofficial and likely illegal service. After this unsafe and unprofessional ride, we were charged 2,950MEX making it the worst part of our stay. The property itself is beautiful, but a few things fell short. The "private" pool wasn’t private at all, fully visible to others, making it uncomfortable to use. The open-concept bathroom lacked privacy, which might not be ideal even for couples. Breakfast was just okay, with small portions, though lunch and dinner were much better. A major disappointment was the Day Pass system, allowing non-guests to flood the resort, taking away the exclusivity we expected. One day, over 20+ visitors arrived, making it feel more like a public attraction than a private retreat. The staff were fantastic, especially Arturo, but some were clearly overworked, and we learned they live in container homes behind the villas, raising concerns about their working conditions. Final Thoughts Would I recommend The Yellow Nest? - Yes, but with caveats. The property is stunning, the food is great, and the staff work hard to make the experience enjoyable. However, the transportation was terrible, the Day Pass system ruins exclusivity, and the lack of privacy in the rooms may not suit everyone. Final Rating: 6.5/10 → Could be 9/10 if they fix the key issues i've mentioned.

"A Hidden Gem in Tulum – Pure Paradise!"

10.0

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Yellow Nest Hotel in Tulum, and I can confidently say it was one of the most magical and relaxing experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a serene atmosphere that set the tone for an unforgettable stay. The hotel is nestled in the heart of nature, offering a perfect balance of luxury and eco-conscious living. The beautifully designed bungalows blend seamlessly with the lush surroundings, providing an intimate and tranquil escape from the busier parts of Tulum. The service was impeccable—every member of the staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely dedicated to making our stay special. They were always ready with recommendations and went above and beyond to ensure comfort and relaxation. One of the highlights was the Temazcal experience—will 100% recommend it! The food was another standout, with fresh, delicious, and locally sourced ingredients that made every meal a delight. If you're looking for a peaceful, romantic, and unique getaway in Tulum, Yellow Nest is the perfect place., This boutique eco-hotel offers an experience that’s truly unforgettable. I can’t wait to return!

The hotel is located off the beaten path , which adds to its peaceful and secluded charm. The road leading to the property can be a bit bumpy. To make the most of your stay and explore the beautiful surroundings at your own pace, I’d highly recommend renting a car. It gives you the flexibility to visit nearby cenotes, Tulum’s beaches, and other attractions with ease.

Our stay at this hotel was absolutely wonderful! Everything exceeded our expectations, but what stood out the most was the amazing team. Everyone was incredibly welcoming, professional, and helpful throughout our stay. A special mention goes to the person leading the Temazcal ceremony – it was an unforgettable experience! Thank you for making our stay so special. We highly recommend this place!

Location is a little bit far away, but you are in a middle of the jungle😀

"A true vacation"

Sammy, Sabastian, Gabby and Jorge were exceptional. The entire staff was alert, available and willing to help.

Maybe 2-4 more lunch/dinner menu options. If you stay past midnight 3 days you begin to repeat meals.

- Staff are really friendly, helpful, and loyal - Good vibe to connect with the nature, I would recommend it for those who wanna be disconnected from the world - breakfast - Swimming pools

- located in the middle of nowhere, very hard to get there, the location that is posted is not correct, rough road (you need a jeep/SUV to get there) - far from tulum, about 30 minutes each way (I wouldn't recommend it for those who want to experience tulum, activities and beaches around) - the roof isn't water proof, we were soaked in water at 2:00 AM !! - no refrigerator - no AC

We had an amazing stay at The Yellownest! The staff was absolutely wonderful - Yosi and Jorge were incredibly special and made our experience even better. We absolutely loved the facilities, and the food was definitely the highlight of our stay. We celebrated my birthday with my wife, and they surprised us with a delicious brownie and even sang "Las Mañanitas," which was such a thoughtful touch. Gabriela was a true showstopper with her facelift massage, which both my wife and I ended up doing and absolutely loved. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that we’ll never forget! In adittion, we definitely loved how close we were to the

The pools were beautiful, but it was almost impossible to enjoy them due to the cold temperature. They were always freezing, and we had to wait for the sun to warm them up a little before we could get in. We never lasted more than 10 minutes in the water. While we understand that the hotel focuses on sustainability, we felt that they could have had a towel station near the pools for guests, or that the service could have been better. Most of the time, the staff was concentrated in one area, and there were long periods where we couldn’t speak to anyone to make a request.
