"Red Lyon, Slinfold"

Location

Windowless room and no TV. Not a problem for one night but no more. This was Room One.

"Would visit again if in the area."

Full English breakfast freshly cooked, hot and delicious, plenty of coffee. Welcoming, friendly and accommodating landlord and staff allowed us to book in early. Would recommend the Red Lyon both to eat and to stay.

"Great relaxing stay in friendly , traditional English pub."

10.0

Food was excellent, owners are friendly and provide a good service. The bar is busy at happy hour, seems popular with locals and good selection of beers. Room supplied with plenty of condiments, drinks, biscuits and bed very comfortable. Room was in the tranquil old part of the building with trees outside. Located just off the Downs Link pathway for any serious walkers.

I can't think of anything!

"Need some improvement"

7.0

Beautiful room. Bed comfy.

No TV. No heating, just plug in heaters so bathroom was freezing. Had to ask for towels No plugs near mirror. Had to blow dry hair from otherwise of the room. A shelf would have been good in bathroom to put wash bag on

Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was delicious. Room was a decent size despite being advertised as a "small double". The garden looks lovely.

The room could have been warmer, it was a bit chilly despite having an additional oil filled radiator in the room. It was a shame the kitchen wasn't open on Sunday evening, however we were told we were welcome to order a takeaway and sit in the restaurant.

"Very Disappointing for an overnight stay."

4.0

A great location for the night out we had in mind, and the room was booked for the overnight stay only. The optional breakfast may have been good, but we were denied the opportunity to find out. Fine greeting on arrival and shown to our room, with the advice that the pub was the oldest building in the village, at 500years old.

With hindsight, the age of the pub may well have been an attempt to justify the lack of cleanliness, and the poor water pressure from the shower. It did nothing to ameliorate the fact that there were no cups in the room with which to drink the plentiful tea, coffee and biscuits provided. The carpets outside the room were almost sticky under foot. The view from the bed up to the large skylight was blighted by the filthy window- the only one in the room which was almost impossible to open, although I did manage it eventually. The cobwebs in the roof beams could have been forgiven, given the age of the property, but the screwed up tissue ( I didn't inspect it's cleanliness too closely) which I found under the bedside table whilst looking for something I had dropped, cannot. The room served a purpose and would have been value for money at £30 cheaper, but for the price we paid, I found the whole thing very disappointing; and to cap it off, we were given no guidance of meal timings and when we went for breakfast the following morning (at possibly slightly later than one may have expected) we were told the kitchen was closed, so we went back to the Country Club we had attended the night before and had breakfast there instead- without any issue.
