Madulkelle Tea and Eco Lodge

Madulkelle Tea and Eco lodge is set on in the mountains north of Kandy, with breath-taking views and a setting that has to be seen to be believed. The accommodation is in tents but these are serious tents, "Out of Africa" style where the shower and toilet within the tent have proper walls. This is not like camping! Both Breakfast and Dinner are fantastic, the restaurant area enjoys these spectacular views and the staff are very attentive without being intrusive or rushed. All the staff were great, paying attention to every detail, from Vinod who helped us with our onward travel plans to young Jayamith who was determined to make everything perfect for us. Thank you all! FYI the accommodation has UK style power sockets in the tents.

Madulkelle is 27km north of Kandy which we didn't realise takes about 90 minutes to drive due to the terrain up into the mountains. As we only stayed for 2 nights, I wish we had just stayed in the accommodation by the pool and not travelled to Kandy and back. Distances on Sri Lankan roads are nothing like the UK.

Breathtaking views, stunning scenery, rooms were well-equipped and spotlessly clean, great cocktails, lovely pool area.

The food did not live up to the 5 star rating, especially considering the prices. The menu only had a couple of traditional Sri Lankan dishes which was a shame as these were both amazing, however the European menu was very disappointing. Would suggest having more Sri Lankan options.

The location was amazing, the staff were friendly, the setup was top notch, incredible views, nice activities.

I had a massage that was very bad.

Dobra pogoda jest kluczowa aby pobyt w tym miejscu był idealnym- my niestety tak owej nie mieliśmy Dość duża odległość i problematyczna droga do Kandy

The property was stunning. The restaurant, through to the infinity pool, to our accommodation itself. Everything you needed was onsite - we could use the spa, get a massage, play pool, have a great meal( go swimming, play badminton etc…

Our only ‘negative’ was the weather we experienced on our first night. It was so windy we couldn’t sleep! But this is the nature of ‘glamping’ and the second night we spent, we slept a full 10 hours un-disturbed, so I think we just got unlucky.
