El Pital, Chocolate Paradise

Die Lage ist traumhaft!

J’ai trouvé que cet endroit était largement surcoté pour un backpacker. Il n’y a pas de cuisine disponible, seulement leur restaurant sur place, qui est isolé et très cher. Même impossible d’avoir accès à un frigo, ce qui est vraiment problématique avec la chaleur. J’avais volontairement pris une chambre de 4 lits, mais j’ai été déçu par son emplacement : elle était juste derrière le bar, donc beaucoup de bruit. Il n’y a pas de toilettes privées et les toilettes communes sont utilisées par tout le monde, ce qui crée souvent une file d’attente. L’ambiance m’a également déplu. La personne qui faisait le cacao tour avait une attitude qui m’a donné une impression d’imposture, comme si elle représentait une vérité absolue sur la culture locale. J’aurais préféré découvrir un Nicaragua plus authentique, à travers les habitants eux-mêmes. Dès le début, je me suis senti mal à l’aise. Le dimanche, avec cette quantité d’enfants bruyants et des parents que j’ai trouvés peu respectueux, c’était le chaos. La réception se trouvant juste à côté de l’endroit où je recevais constamment des balles, cela a encore renforcé mon inconfort. J’ai payé plus cher que dans des hostels à proximité et je regrette vraiment cette expérience. Malheureusement, ce séjour a gâché une partie de mon passage à Ometepe.

I loved this property. The location was beautiful and it was so nice being surrounded by nature. The whole place had a really relaxed, chilled atmosphere which made it easy to switch off and enjoy the experience. The food was delicious, and all of the tours and activities were really good. My favourite part was definitely the chocolate tour – I had a great time and would stay here again

The only downside for us was that the room felt quite expensive for what was provided. While we appreciated that the accommodation is located in the middle of the forest and understand that some wildlife is to be expected, bugs were able to enter the room and even the bed quite easily during our stay. If we were to visit again, we would likely choose one of the deluxe rooms, as these may offer better protection from this issue. We also found the lack of curtains a little uncomfortable, as it left the room feeling quite exposed and offered limited privacy.

They are still working out many kinks. We waited at the counter to check in for almost 2 hours because they were so slow, causing us to miss sunset.

The location is a 10/10, the cacao tour is a 10/10, and the kindness of the staff is also a 10/10. Unfortunately, our overall experience was affected by a few important issues.

On our first night, someone tried to enter our cabana and then ran away. We immediately reported the incident, and the receptionist told us that, thanks to the security cameras and staff, they would be able to identify who was responsible. Later, however, we were informed that there were actually no cameras covering the area of our cabana and that, in any case, “nobody could have entered from outside.” The fact that the person may have been another guest rather than an outsider does not make the situation any less serious. What disappointed us most was the lack of any apology or follow-up from management. We chose this solution based on a friend’s recommendation, hoping to experience a bit of the real Ometepe. Unfortunately, apart from the excellent cacao experience, the hotel felt like it could have been located anywhere in the world—Bali, Sri Lanka, or elsewhere. We found very little that felt genuinely Nicaraguan in terms of atmosphere, culture, or identity. Finally, our bed was not as clean as expected. I am not referring to traces left by insects or animals, which can happen in a tropical environment, but to visible stains on the mosquito net that had clearly not been cleaned. Given the price of the cabana, we expected a higher standard.

Loved El Pital so much! The dorm was super spacious and comfortable with great bathrooms. The cafe and common area were great places to relax and the food was amazing. Loved the yoga and views of the water

Can hardly fault it! Maybe the rooms could have been a bit cooler/stronger fans

Me gustó mucho la locación bien escondido en la selva de Ometepe con monos y pajaritos. El equipo ayudo mucho.
