Masai Mara Sopa Lodge

Great place! Excellent location in the park, fantastic staff and excellent service. There had been some confusion as to whether the park could be entered by private car (it is not allowed and would be impractical), but this could be resolved prior to my arrival.

The room was big and had three beds. Maybe because of that the price had to be kept high. The location had the problem that no animals or birds were viewed by us during our stay from the lodge campus. The breakfast was great and with large varieties. Chef made good food on request also. Overall experience was positive. Only issue was the internet, but the lack of it other than the lobby is understandable under the circumstances.

The price was too high. Though we are told the lodge is inside the national park, everyday game drive route had to pass through another gate after about 15 minutes of drive. So we felt that some time was wasted. Many lodges boasted of animals/birds inside the campus. But here we saw nothing. At least some exotic plants would cheer people up. Price could have been about 20% cheaper.

The location, pool & food was really good! We had an amazing game drive with Jackson - he is really friendly!

Hygiene of the room could be improved: the bathroom is outdated and not totally clean

The location is very close to the Masai village.

The staff seems not happy with everything. We tried to book the seats next to the window for the second day dinner and got rejected. Because the staff said she was not sure if anyone else will need that table the next day. I don’t get it. We need it and she doesn’t want to reserve for us.
