The Reston Hotel, Newcastle South Washington, Part of the AG Collection

I loved the staff (especially Steph who went over and above to try and get me early check-in as we were arriving from Ireland very early). Loved the breakfast and wee seating area with tv.

Room size was very small and no plug sockets near to the beds.

I was initially sent to an occupied room. I was shocked to see a gentleman upon entering the room and had to go back to reception. I was given another room without a sea view which was not I booked for. I found hair on one of the towels and by the sink and on the bed. I was too tired to go back to reception as it was almost midnight.

It was clean

The hotel was clean and staff friendly and helpful.

The hotel requires complete refurbishment. Furniture and decor is very outdated. The layout of the room was strange, two door when entering the room. The hotel needs better sound insulation. I can hear people walking up and down, talking in rooms next door. Rooms smelt damp and the carpet was sticky and needs replacing. The sofa in the reception area looks as though it needs to go in the bin. The restrant/reception was really strange and having the two together and again it all needs refurbishing.
