GBThe location of The George was great for visiting Stourhead National Trust. The village of Mere is really pretty.
Unfortunately although I had booked bed and breakfast the kitchen was closed due to the cook resigning. I was not informed of this prior to arrival. No evening dinner and no breakfast provided. Why couldn’t they have provided a continental breakfast, no cooking required?? I unfortunately also had a guest in the next room that woke me up both mornings at 7.15am (I’d have quite liked a lie in) with wretching and vomiting, not a pleasant experience to be woken up to.
GBThe barman did everything he could to try and assist us with getting dinner and breakfast. He allowed us to buy fish and chips and provided plates, cutlery and allowed us to eat them in the pub. He was very apologetic.
Due to a flood in the kitchen, their was no restsurant service for dinner or breakfast. We had paid for bed and breakfast and did not receive a deduction on our bill for the lack of breakfast which we had to go to the local tea shop for. The room was very dirty, dust everywhere, carpet not hoovered, stains on a very unstable chair, no shower, no hot water.

No food as chef quit so included breakfast was unavailable. No shower only mixer shower in bath, small tv, bar ran out of both types of lager. I overheard some locals saying that the pub might be closing down so could be why nothing was available. Overall room was ok for the price but a bit disappointing facilities
GBGBWe paid for bed and breakfast but told there would be no breakfast as they had a leak and also the chef had left.
Accommodation very dusty and the fact that we were not given what we had paid for, ie breakfast. Also our shower leaked all the time and the noise of running water made it hard to sleep. Plus we could not get hot water in the wash basin unless we let it run for 10 minutes plus.

The room hadn’t been hovered…very dusty and shower didn’t drain. Very tired. No chef so breakfast was supposed to included but wasn’t we were offered a free drink instead. Rude manager
GBThe cushions were not clean. I shall not go into detail. Eight o'clock breakfast did not happen. I opted not to stay for the second night.
