FOUR Bedroom Apartment, Old Town Bucharest

The apartment was modern, the rooms are great sized and the location was perfect if you wanted to be right in the city centre. It is a short walk to the main shops!

It could use an extra toilet or bathroom. But other than that it was perfect.

Lack of information about the property and its surroundings

The property was in a good location, walkable into the old town. It was also very clean and tidy. 3 good sized bedrooms. We feel the property should be advertised as 3 bedroom. We enjoyed our stay! Thank you.

There were a few things. The bedroom in the basement wasn’t ideal and we didn’t use this as we didn’t feel the ladder down was safe enough. The resources available in the kitchen weren’t enough for 7 people. And finally the hot water and heating dropped out a few times so we had to reset the boiler (after the host showed us how to) but we feel we shouldn’t have had to do this.

2 rooms were ok, living room was good, bathroom was ok but you have to call Andrea to get hot water.

The fourth bedroom, it was more like a donjon than a bedroom, the homeless guy sleeping outside our flat in the hallway, the non working microwave. Just a terrible place.

The apartment was very central, very lovely inside and the host was very responsive to messages. Great value for money.

The basement room is only accessible by a steep set of wooden stairs, perhaps more like a ladder and we didn't feel comfortable using them so used the sofa bed in the living room instead.

The photos are lovely, however the property does not live up to those standards.

It is unsafe with the front door being accessible to the public due to broken glass. The key fob to open the front door was not working, the broken glass allowed me to reach inside the door and open it from the inside, but this also meant that anyone could do this. When we got in, the area outside of the apartment door was dark and there were 2 men standing in the shadows in the stairwell that were quite intimidating and looked as though they didn’t live there, possibly finding shelter from the cold and rain to drink. The apartment was freezing cold, there was no heat or hot water. We had to turn the air heaters on in each room to achieve a bit of heat, and after 12 hours of travelling, getting in after midnight, it was unacceptable to have no heat from the radiators and no hot water. The owner did message me back when I complained in message saying that he would call me immediately, but it took about 30 minutes, at which point it was 2am. We had a video call with him literally talking me through how to reset the boiler to allow the hot water to flow into the radiators and taps. Next, I had stayed in advance that there were 5 of us and we would need all 5 beds made up. Owner said he had written down it was 8 of us and assumed we would only need 4 beds. He checked and confirmed he was wrong. One of the sofa beds in the living room was not made up and there was no bedding available in the property. The 4th bedroom was in a hole in the ground, literally a hole in the ground, accessible by a ladder. The lights in this room didn’t work and it was pitch black, there were also 2 dead cockroaches in this space. 5 of us had to share 3 beds. There were 2 half rolls of used toilet paper. There weren’t hand towels to wipe your hands on. The shower was covered in black mould. We did not stay the 2nd night as we felt too unsafe and paid to stay in a hotel. This apartment was the worst place I’ve ever stayed.
