Quiet but five minute walk to Cathedral

Great atmosphere in the bar and restaurant and the food was exceptional. Breakfast was great with lots of variety. No fried breakfast which for me was a plus. Staff were great, friendly and were on hand and nothing was too much trouble.....not that we were demanding! Coffee was also excellent!

The only downside was that there was no parking but as we were on motorcycles it didn't pose a problem for us as we could park virtually outside, and there is parking fairly close by if required. It was on a junction and main road but although we didn't have an issue our friends found it a little noisy late evening as they were at the front....it was a Saturday night though!

A very spacious and comfortable room, and a great mix of modern design within a traditional building.

Sits on a road junction, but good sound insulation.

An improvement would be a manned reception. We arrived after the check-in time of 3pm to find the door locked as the pub didn't open till 4pm. There was a very pleasant person in the back yard who was able to let us in the back way and show us to our rooms.

Bed, shower, nice room but small, good location for town centre, but next to a main road

The shower drain smelt badly, the toilet roll holder was loose and unable to use, the light switch into the bathroom, no lock on window to room making it very vulnerable, room not ready when we went into the room, no WiFi code given or in any info pack, the view out of the window was the kitchen fan units. Breakfast was very very limited a cheep ingredients

Staff were excellent and always went the extra mile to help out and engage in conversation, I can't speak highly enough of them. The restaurant atmosphere is good and the food is well prepared, they catered very well for my wife who is gluten and dariy intollerant. The room was comfortable and clean. Location to the centre of Wells and all it's facilitites is very good and everything is within a short walk. We were there for the street market which was a bonus!

Slight downside is the road noise but we live in a very quiet area so anything other than close to silence is noticable.
