Property extremely uncomfortable in terms of use: to reach the bathroom you need to climb a steep and quite dangerous stair. The bathroom itself is quite badly designed: no proper shower, you need to climb in a bathtub to take a shower. Elderly people, people with mobility problems, STAY AWAY from this place.

Architecture experience

Beautiful house that is really thoughtfully designed. A real find for architecture lovers. Great location for Okayama and loved the map with all the recommendations - Slowcave winebar is a must. Lovely cotton pyjamas, towels and bedding, and a lovely bath.

The front door didn't seem overly secure and the a/c wasn't very functional in our bedroom so it got quite warm overnight.

Wifi was very very weak

Almost everything. Living in a piece of art.

We got locked out due to some mistake by the hotel, setting the password to the keylock to reset after the first day, and we had to scramble to look around for someone to help get in contact with the hotel staff. Thankfully the nice lady from the restaurant Antenna went above and beyond to help us.

A very cool experience to spend a couple of nights in the art house. We originally wanted to stay in the art museum hotel on Naoshima Island, but it was 6 times the price and not available anyway. We somehow found this is an unknown gem, its creation funded by a foundation that brings together artists and architects to increase the presence of Okayama as an art destination. The light and design of this space are unique and interesting and spacious. The bedding was luxurious quality, as were the robes and white night wear and slippers.

The only real comfortable place to rest in were the beds. The chairs around the dining room table were straight back with no cushioning. The living room area with comfortable chairs placed prominently in the photos for the rental IS NOT INCLUDED and you can not access it. They really should remove the photos as it is false advertising. Featuring this photo is also confusing because this is not where you enter the rental. The entry is actually around the corner of this to your left. Walk down the narrow path and you will find the digital door lock. Take care in making sure the door lock is properly engaged when you leave the rental, as it took as few times to automatically lock when the gigantic door was closed. The bathroom was amazing, but you had to go up very steep and high stairs to access it. The tub is very cool to look at, but you can't really soak in it because of the sharp angles and you have to step on a fairly high stool with no hand rails to get in and out. Very nice premium bathroom amenities and plenty of high quality towels. While the oven/microwave combo was good to have, there are no eating utensils or plates, etc. Very generous supply of bottled water and refrigerated ice tea, a few snacks and premium tea and coffee. There are no English instructions on how to use any of the remotes for heating, cooling, etc. and Google translate could not give us any helpful translations, so unfortunately the rental was too hot for our comfort. Response from the company managing the rental is slow via booking messaging, so we were not able to fully enjoy all the features of the rental, such as how to access the upper outdoor terrace. There was confusion on how to submit payment since the company no longer took payment through the booking portal as originally indicated. Because of these inconveniences, I could not give it a perfect 10. But for the chance to spend a couple of nights in the stunning and incredibly unique space, it is definitely a 10+.
