The Beau Hotel Downtown San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

It is a historic old building with tons of charm. However, I was not aware there was no elevator and stayed on the third floor.

Bar and bar staff were excellent

Room not set up as advertised. No lift. Couples are discriminated against in the food/drink credit. The hotel manager has no service skills. Morning receptionist a waste of time - clueless and unable to understand simple conversation. We were provided with no towels or laundry change whilst there. Told coffee was available on our floor, then it wasn't. No phones in the rooms, so calling down to reception was very difficult. Had the strangest placed aircon unit ever asked for it to be moved, given a broken bare-wired extension, and left to sort by ourselves. Raised concerns with both the hotel manager and booking.com, both have been as useful as a chocolate fireguard, using Agoda and another hotel when visiting San Diego

Firstly, this is an inaccessible hotel. There are no lifts and no rooms with step-free access. If we knew this, we wouldn’t have booked. Secondly, when we checked in (female same sex couple) the receptionist asked if we were friends or sisters????? No idea who trained him but with San Diego being extremely LGBTQ+ friendly, this was the worst vibes. We booked a room with a bath, they don’t have any baths at the hotel??? The first room they put us in was absolutely tiny, the air con didn’t work and the one tiny window in the room faced a wall. It was depressing. They moved us to a twin double room which was much more spacious but we only needed one bed. The beds were small and uncomfortable, and you had to have a run up to get on the bed as they’re situated on a big metal empty and noisy box which makes them too tall if you’re 5ft6… there’s no fridges in the rooms. There’s 4 coat hangers and no coat pegs, 1 drawer. Just truly not ideal for two people for a 5 day stay. The restaurant was closed for renovations when we arrived, it opened 3 days in but we never used our $25 voucher as the prices for food were extortionate in comparison to local businesses so we just ate out all the time. Honestly we were so upset and disappointed, if money was no object we’d have left immediately and checked in elsewhere. It really ruined our overall experience in the city for the first time. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

La propreté, l’accueil de tout le personnel, les chambres et la beauté du lieu. Les 25$ de crédit est un vrai plus. Ainsi que le café starbuck à disposition. Parking même si payant 40$ la nuit voir peut être un peu moins si on utilise le second parking.

Pour ma part ce n’était pas un point négatif mais ma belle-mère et ma grand-mère ont galéré à monter les 3 GRANDS étages à pieds. Réflexion à lancer sur un petit monte-charge à l’ancienne comme dans les immeubles français ancien.

Personnel très accueillant. Chambre confortable et savons/shampoings de qualité. Station de café à l’étage avec petite terrace. Bonne localisation. Bon rapport qualité/prix. Le restaurant offre de bons plats aussi.

Rien mis à part peut-être l’insonorisation.
