"Great historic building in a very walkable location in Gaslamp area."

9.0

Beautiful restoration of this gorgeous historic building. Comfy beds, true blackout curtains, kind of noisy portable A/C but actually created great white noise for very sound sleeping, coffee/tea/water available on each floor, and fabulous restaurant and bar on-site. If not looking for a pool or fitness facility, this is a great option in Gaslamp!

"It's nice, but outdated for the price and my glasses I guess grew legs and walked away. They don't want to take"

5.0

The property was located in a central location

They didn't have an elevator, my glasses got lost and I know for a FACT, I left them in the bathroom on the top shelf. Now I'm having to pay just as much as I paid for the room for me another pair of glasses. They are not willing to compensate me for anything. We asked that our room be refreshed, it didn't get done. There excuse we clean the room every other day, well at least remove the trash, give us clean towels and wash rags and restock the toilet paper, that wasn't even done. The bathroom sink drains super slow, you can hear people walking, jumping whatever they were doing above and beside us. No microwave, refrigerator or iron in the room. Outdated heater still on the wall. I'm really pissed about my glasses. My friend stayed at the Moxy Hotel and when a mishap happened they accommodated very well. I don't like that you have to pay for parking and you're spending this much money. I will not be returning I will take my business elsewhere. You do receive a $25 credit to spend down stairs. Don't get me wrong I was and still is overly pissed off, but the staff was very nice, not nice enough to at least compensate or help make right, do something about my glasses. Again no elevators our luggage was heavy but someone a very nice gentleman carried them up all those stairs.

"A pleasant stay and would happily stay again."

9.0

Lovely hotel, great room, modern and well functioning bathroom. The staff were really accommodating and the hotel is in a great location for exploring San Diego.

There was some outside noise but to be expected in a busy city area - the hotel had provided ear plugs.

"Nice and historic hotel in central San Diego"

8.0

Very central location. Good sized room. Nice little communal lounge/patio to get coffee. Historic and character-filled building. Friendly staff. Tasty breakfast.

Room had a bit of an odour when I arrived, perhaps caused by outside sewage pipes or similar, which was a bit unpleasant. But perhaps I just got unlucky.

"Charming Boutique Hotel"

8.0

The Beau is a very charming boutique hotel and I’m glad I got to experience it. Having travelled from Australia and being pretty tired I very much appreciated the complimentary Starbucks coffee and great range of herbal teas. The location was fine for me, not too far to walk to get the hop on / hop off tour at 6th Ave. The staff were all very helpful too

I’m sure not having a lift adds to the hotels charm but it would be great to have one ☺️

"Stayed at The Beau Downtown for a short one night staff were great, friendly, and overall helpful."

8.0

Stayed at The Beau Downtown for a short one night solo stay for a running event. Staff were great, friendly, and overall helpful. Appreciated the willingness to help with luggage with the stairs and highlight the amenities at the hotel. Really liked that each floor at its own coffee, tea, water and ice station (haven’t experienced this at other hotels). I had a room with a double/queen bed which was clean and updated. I needed to stay close to Amtrak station and Gaslamp which made this hotel a great location. Would recommend.

My only feedback for my stay is the hallways have an open air concept which during my stay there was a heat wave so made it a little warm. Room had AC for relief. I wish hotel room at a mini fridge and a few more options for TV channels. Even a fridge just to keep a few beverages cold would be nice. Since it was warm weather I bought drinks I wanted to be chilled to keep myself hydrated and the small ice bucket couldn’t accommodate. Since TV only a had couple of local channels, I did appreciate it was a smart TV so I just switched to YouTube.
