Mad monkey hostel and lounge

People say it's away from the main road, but it's still a noisy place. Even though it looks cool, it's a bit old, not cleaned well. People were nice and the breakfast was good

There was no soap in the washroom, no toilet paper and the stairs to climb the bunk bed were uncomfortable. In general the sleeping area didn't feel cosy and reliable, only outdoor area.

The room I stayed in was a 4-bed dorm, a very reasonable size for a dorm; and the hostel is not so big so it's easy to meet and chat with other travellers.. This hostel felt like a home to me, it was super clean, the atmosphere was unbearable and the family who runs it absolutely delightful. I extended my stay twice, up to one week, until I had to go because it was fully booked. The breakfast was also very generous!!! I appreciated the bread and eggs every morning. The location is also very good. Thanks again for everything! I would definitely go back.

Absolutely loved my stay here! The family running the place is incredibly kind and welcoming — they truly made me feel at home. The room was spacious and very comfortable, perfect for 4 people, with a clean private bathroom. Everything was spotless. They also recommended some beautiful local spots to explore around Ella that I wouldn’t have discovered otherwise. Breakfast was delicious and generous, and you can feel the care they put into every detail. A peaceful and heartwarming place — I’d definitely stay here again.

I love the location and the vibe, quiet as i expected and the staff were was very help and attending always. recommend this place for any type of tourist... best for solo travelers. they always made us feel like home and asked and guided everyone on their plans on finding locations and places to hike.

wifi was bit slow - as there were many connections throwing around the property. if they can fix it - this is one of the best hostels in ella.

I think this hostel is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed in Sri Lanka! Very clean and cozy vibes. The owner’s family is beautiful and kind. I would come back for sure!! Amazing place to stay, I highly recommend it.
