The host was friendly during parts of our stay, and the mosquito net over the bed was helpful.

The WiFi connection was unreliable, and the electricity in our room was turned off whenever we left the property. The on-site food was expensive for the quality. One fish dish was undercooked, and a coconut crepe had a 2-inch curly hair. Although the room looked fine at first glance, there were many bugs (spiders, crickets, moths, and small lizards) in the corners and around the furniture. The bed also had a weird smell. The most concerning issue was the final bill. We were charged significantly more than the price confirmed on Booking and were told that only cash was accepted. When I asked to pay by card, the owner repeatedly pushed for cash payment. The situation escalated to the point where I had to involve my taxi driver to help clarify the agreed rate before the price was adjusted back to the originally booked amount. While my taxi driver was talking to the host in Sinhala the host had “hopeful”eyes as if pleading to not have our taxi driver to expose him. This experience was stressful and disappointing. Update: It looks like we missed the part in the listing that said it was cash only, and that is entirely our fault for missing it and not bringing enough cash. However, the rest of the review still remains true. Make sure you review the receipt carefully because the employee there may “miscalculate” it. You may not be as lucky as we were to have a local Sri Lankan vouch for you.

The family and 2 young guys that run La Casa are lovely! Rooms are big with a great patio area at the front set in a lovely garden We did the safari with them and it was fab! Had dinner at the property both nights My husband loved the chicken and chips one night! A welcome change thanks La casa for a great stay!

we stayed at the La Casa for two nights to do the safari and we can highly recommend it. not only that the rooms are really nice and clean, but also Ajith is a really nice guy and welcomed us in the best way he could. he helped us where ever he could. We did also the safari with him and that also was the best experience we could get. you can really tell that he is doing his safaris with passion.
