Elegant Apartment with Gym Access at Crystal City

The location was great - right next to Crystal City metro station. The elevators are convenient and the building looks and feels modern. The kitchen had basic amenities but they were enough for our needs.

1. When we arrived in March 2026 the weather in DC was a sunny 78f, but the temperature inside the apartment was more than 80f. When we spoke with the hosts they couldn't do nothing besides telling us to use fans. The AC didn't work (it actually spit out hot air) because the building configured it on heat. We were left to handle the extreme heat inside by ourselves. 2. The washing machine's drum was extremely dirty/moldy. When I sent them a picture of it, the host said someone would come to check it the next day. No one came. When I asked again, they said they would send someone *after* I leave the apartment when my visit is over. This bring up a question of whether they intend to send someone at all, especially since there's another review from a few months ago mentioning the dirty washing machine. 3. We were woken up one of the our nights there, together with the entire building. The building's fire alarm went off, and nor the fire department nor the building's staff were able to turn it off for ~2h. I understand this is not the hosts' fault, but this has never happened to me in any of my Airbnb/Hotel stays before. If the building is prone to these problems, this is something you have to consider before you book. 4. When I spoke with hosts about (1) and (2), they mentioned that that are considered compensating me for not meeting expectations. But since then, they haven't followed back with any details even though I pinged them daily. It doesn't seem like they are taking it seriously.

Dirty and moldy washing machine, dirty stove burner, dirty dishwasher, dirty AC filter and non functional AC in living room.

Location. Proximity to Metro and a CVS. Having washer AND dryer. Trash bin nearby.

The floors were sticky. They need to be mopped more thoroughly.

Was not really clean and air conditioner did not work. Not all electrical sockets work.

The Crystal City location was perfect. The apartment was a block from the Crystal City Metro station, so it was fast and easy to get into DC. We could get off one stop early on the way back, at Pentagon City, then walk past Costco and/or Whole Foods on the way back to the apartment.

WeHost communicated using booking.com messaging, e-mail, and I think even a text message. The first communication I received was an email from a sender I didn't recognize, asking for a credit card to pay the deposit, if owed, and id information. We didn't owe a deposit and the email set off my phishing radar in a huge way. I did not reply to this email, but eventually had to send pictures IDs, to another email, frontdesk@wehostgroup.com. The apartment was nice, but it would have been great to have a kitchen towel and a cookie sheet. The apartment has two bath towels and one hand towel. We used the hand towel in the kitchen. We also thought that we could have been given more toilet paper for an an 8 night rental than we would have had for a shorter rental. The bedroom only had one tiny lamp on the bedstand, no other light in the room. The living room had one lamp, no other light in the living room.

Very close to the metro. Was easy for my mom who is a slower walker.
