The Cottage- Hopewell

Great location, lots of space

The cottage is in the middle of a farm, surrounded by llamas and countryside (it's pretty close to the motorway, which you can see on the map, so there is some road noise but the views are STUNNING!). It felt like we had the place entirely to ourselves (there were other cars in the car park, so that wasn't true but we didn't hear a peep from any of the other cottages the whole time we were there) and the cottage itself was cozy and welcoming. The shower had good water pressure (always a bonus!) and the bed was comfortable.

We had a few issues when we first arrived, which we reached out to the host about on our first out of 4 days stay. They came to address the issues on the second day (mainly fixed, I think one was a bigger job) but it did take a bit of a shine off our arrival. We had some confusing when we arrived with parking/finding our cottage (we got a message saying the parking bays are numbered, which we interpreted as "park in your cottage's number" and got stressed that we couldn't find our cottage number - the numbers in the car park are unrelated to the accommodation! This was our misunderstanding but quite stressful late at night after a long drive). The hosts send a link outside of booking.com asking for a £150 deposit. Some TLC is needed at the property - generally it's in pretty good condition but it's showing wear and tear throughout. The drive up to the cottage is BRUTAL - it lures you in with nice tarmac then hits you with awful potholes about 1/3 of the way along. Hold onto your suspension!
