Location brilliant for accessing walks in the forest of dean. The view from the bedroom window was spectacular.

Great location if you are a walker , views were fabulous - hosts nice, they even left a Birthday card for my husband and some Prosecco

When we first turned up I thought oh no where have we come to as the site was very messy, looks uncared for. Once inside , the actual room was nice and well equipped, however the shower heads needed to be cleaned.(looking at other reviews this has often been mentioned so why has it not been sorted)The lock on bathroom door was not working and I got locked inside which was not nice . I always tidy up before I leave a property but this property expected you to take the rubbish out to the bin as well, I think this is going a bit far . The hosts have 5 dogs which are lovely and friendly,however every morning as we were sitting outside, they came outside right in front of us to do their business- surely the hosts could have taken them to their other field, a little off putting and unacceptable

Couldn't find a breadboard so went and bought one and had a problem when the cooker tripped but was quickly sorted by the owners

Everything. Stand out is the beautiful location. Stunning views from the property. Peaceful location but not too far from everything you need. Would love to visit in the summer.

If I’m being really, really, picky….Emptying the bins in the property! Unfortunately they weren’t emptied by the previous people so the bins were fairly full when we arrived.

The lodge was a very calm space - everything was in place, in good condition and very clean. It was so warm and comfortable. It was also very private and quiet. What a relaxing place. The 2 large windows and French doors which looked out across the panoramic view of the countryside was a delight, with morning sunrises, as an extra treat. The owners, who were nearby, very much respected our privacy. They were also so helpful when we lost our car keys! They also left us milk, tea, coffee and and some little chocs- thanks!

The accommodation was beautifully presented, well appointed and very clean. The views were wonderful and the location perfect as a base for visiting the region.

We’ve stayed before and The Rock never disappoints. Friendly hosts, well equipped, quiet and with decent local walking. There is nothing to dislike.
