Artistic hideaway within York’s ancient city walls

I was looking for a stay with some character, as places that are all white and grey are just depressing! This little terraced house certainly delivers on character and charm. It's well appointed and very clean.with quirky little details throughout. I slept well as the street is very quiet. I would definitely stay again as the location is perfect for visiting York.

Absolutely nothing, it's lovely. Other reviews do mention some odd details such as the steep stairs, but they're way better than mine in my little terraced house, and yes, the tub is a little different than others in the UK, but these are common in France so I guess it's just what you've seen when travelling!

Lovely cosy house equipped with everything you could possibly need. Beds were lovely and comfortable and bathroom was great. Communication with the owners was very good. It was just a short walk into town but away from the noise at night. Would definitely recommend 5*.

Wonderful location within the city walls in a quiet residential area. Easy walking distance to tourist locations. Emily and Rowan were fabulous to work with.

The house was in a very convenient location for looking round York. It was very comfortable, beautifully decorated and the kitchen was well equipped.

There was nothing to not like.

We had wonderful communication with hosts, the property was beautifully and tastefully decorated and had everything that we needed for our stay (the kitchen had the most amazing stove) and, also, after a long drive we were welcomed by a bottle of wine (there was also milk in the fridge)! I loved my bed (the mattress was super comfy) and the fact that the house was tucked away from the noisy city centre but was, nevertheless, close to all famous landmarks (less than 5 minutes away from the York's historic city walls). For families with kids- there was also a small playground nearby :) We spent three happy days exploring York, took hundreds of pictures and made lots of memories!

Very cute little townhouse in a fantastic location right inside the walls. There was everything our little family needed, lots of thoughtful touches, comfortable beds. We walked all over York from here. Hosts were very helpful and we appreciated the coffee, french press and milk in the fridge! We stayed over a weekend and the street was very quiet - just far enough away from the centre to escape the crowds.

The place has a few quirks, but that is to be expected of a character home. Wouldn’t recommend for families with children under 5 or anyone with mobility issues as the stairs are steep with a step down and up to access the bathroom and a large step over the bath into the shower.
