This charming and spacious old townhouse in downtown Swansea has an interesting vintage record collection, guitar, backyard area, full kitchen, washer/dryer, and a third bedroom on the top floor, accessible by a spiral staircase

I liked everything about it. I would like to have restored a few decorative instruments that were there for looks

The whole house, has multiple signs of damp & bad electrics. On entering the property we faced electric conduit coming off the walls, the sofa in the living room was badly stained and placed on wooden blocks, the chair was so low it was difficult to get off it. Rug was behind a door making door unable to be opened. Centre table in the living room was broken and if knocked, would fall over. Kitchen was no better - damp everywhere and plaster coming off the wall. The table was laid but in a position making it difficult to get past especially with another rug causing a trip hazard. The downstairs toilet had a broken lock and was so tiny. Upstairs - holes in many of the walls Bedroom 1 had electric heater under the curtain, damp on the walls, bedding was too thin for the time of year. Non-existent floor boards by the door Bedroom 2 same issue with the bedding, rug behind the door so couldn’t be opened properly and curled corner causing a trip hazard. No mirror or plug sockets even though a hair dryer had been supplied. Shower room full of ceiling mold, dirty floors and shower. Bathroom again signs of mold and a lump of what looked like chewing gum left on the bath. 2nd floor bedroom - access is via a very narrow precarious staircase, again the bedding was too thin for this time of year and a sock was found on the floor when entering.

It was clean and tidy and close to town centre thank you very much 👍🏻

The house was in a nice quiet street and large enough for what we needed

When we arrived at property, the electrics were all off, turned out the electric had tripped so we needed to find the fuse box and put them back on. Generally tidy however on closer inspection not very clean, didn’t look like it had been hoovered for a long time. When we went to make breakfast the next morning, saucepans and crockery were dirty so went out for breakfast instead. Shower didn’t work, instead I had to shower in the half bath, which was no easy feat for someone who is 6ft 6! Everything requires updating, half of the furniture looks like it was about to collapse and very grubby Due to working in the day and not arriving until 2130 we had no choice but to stay, if it was earlier in the day I would have cancelled the booking and fought alternative accommodation!!

Does the job on a basic level

In serious need of some TLC. Basic things like fixing door handles, washing rugs, etc., would make a big difference.

The house was within walking distance of the town centre. The musical touches round the house gave it a bit of character. The record player and amp were a nice touch to give an evening in some ambience. The standing bath was another character piece, and nothing was better than getting into a deep hot bath after a rainy day out. The house was a great size, with 3 double bedrooms it was good for a group of adults.

There were a lot of issues with the house, I wouldn't pay to stay here again, and to be honest, it should NOT be accepting guests in its current state. I'll list below the major issues we found: . The roof leaked in the rain. We woke up at 2am to the sound of water coming through the ceiling and had to put down pots and pans to stop it soaking through the floor. . The mixer in the shower didn't work, so your only option was a scalding hot shower (luckily there was the bath) . The thermostat didn't work, so the heating couldn't be switched on if it got too cold. There was an electric fire in the lounge at least but the rest of the house was freezing when the cold rains came down (and into the house itself) . The cooker barely functioned. Not a single gas hob would light, and the oven just didn't get hot enough to really cook anything. Honestly not good enough for a self catering stay. . The kitchen itself was pretty shoddy in general, which isn't a major issue as the worktops were okay, but it really could use a refresh. I would love to come back to this house in the future, but not until some proper work has been done to sort out all the issues.

Location was perfect, very comfortable, great value for money

The shower, three people all used it at different times and none of us could get it hot
