-Great layout, large and well designed room, wonderful rooftop with view on the bay -Free water -Friendly staff

-The bed and bedding are not good. Polyester bed sheets are not adequate -Strong bedside lamps -Unfortunately the terrace rooftop closes at 7pm, which is a real shame

Great location, clean rooms and great swimming pool

Villa Macarena is very nice, with a lovely swimming pool overseeing the seafront. The staff is lovely but the overall service is very basic - lots of rules to follow (incl. very late check in at 4pm and early check out at 11am compared to usual hotels and room cleaning only every 3 days…). The swimming pool has a café/restaurant with very nice food and drinks, but be aware that it’s cash only (which was only communicated to us upon arrival). Because of lots of power shortages and lack of banks in Punta, it’s very hard to find ATMs and therefore would have appreciated the cash only heads up.

Everyone from the staff is very attentive, making sure our stay was good, chef is amazing his attitude always positive, best drinks and food specially the chilaquiles. They clean every other day, they send you a message first to make sure you want the room to actually be clean, if you ask they will provide you with every contact you need to survive in puerto escondido. The area is pretty safe you have your own codes for the main entrance door and your room of course. I will definitely comeback. Oooh you can see the sunset from the pool area!

The pool area and bar/ chef close at 7 pm is definitely too early if zicatela close at 23:00 I believe they should close at the same time. That’s the only thing I dislike about.

The stay in the hotel room was good! The bed is a little small for 2 people (we are both over 1.78 meters) The kitchen is basically equipped. On top of the hotel there is a complex of comfortable beds, 2 pools, a seating area, and on top of all that a small area to do yoga. The whole roof is amazing!!! Etgar, the bartender at the bar on the roof of the hotel is an amazing and pleasant man! It is highly recommended to come and meet him. The hotel staff and the manager (I think) were very, very nice and courteous! The entrance to the apartment was flexible, and until the entrance we could store our things and stay in the pool area. The price is good and the location too🙏🏼 Thank you for everything

A few disadvantages: - There is almost no hot water - There is a window that cannot be covered with a curtain in the morning, not terrible but not the most fun

Massive bonus points for the rooftop and pool, what a view! Sunsets were incredible. Staff was nice and responsive enough. The only downside would be the lighting in the bathroom (really dark), lack of space to hang towels/clothes on and lack of mirror in the apartment (only a small one in the dark bathroom). Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay here!

We’ve had a wonderful stay in Puerto Escondido and Villas Macarenas. A special thanks goes to the bartender & chef Ivan, who’s not only a great cook but also incredibly friendly and helpful. He once even gave us a ride and showed us a super authentic Mexican restaurants that we never would’ve discovered.

If there was to criticize something about the accommodation, it’d be the location on top of a hill where there aren’t any restaurants or supermarkets close by. If you stay longer, you should consider renting a bike or quad.
