Sunny Brae, dog friendly Windermere Cottage

It was in an ideal location. There was no issue with parking and we took 2 cars. Everything you could possibly need was in the property. It was spotless. It was quirky and functional. We loved it.

Lovely house, very clean and tidy. All the amenities you need for the weekend.Tea and coffee was a bonus after a long journey

It's not that we didn't like it,just a lot of stairs especially after walking Helvellyn.

Great location, bus route at the end of the road, plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, plus free on street parking was easy enough. House itself was lovely, typical curb appeal for the area, and arranged over 4 floors. Communication with owners was good. Great base for a small group of fell walkers wanting a reasonably price place to base themselves between hikes and pub visits!

Size the shower cubicle on 1st floor is a bit small (especially for a 6'5" walker).....but otherwise everything was very nice.

The location is perfect

It’s very cosy and comfortable. We can take a good rest after whole day outing.

The location of this house is excellent and the main plus point. The beds, linen and towels were of good quality. It was clean with the exception of the yard.

The property is advertised as having a secure garden but it isnt. The top floor has no functioning heating at all. The main bathroom is up there and is freezing. The kitchen is in the basement down a very steep flight of stairs which is not clear from the photos. Quite a lot of maintenance required throughout the house, for example leaks visible on most ceilings, loose taps, loose toilet seat, plug in heater in main bedroom doesn't work, various bulbs not working (some photos added to demonstrate). For the price being charged for this property they need to inspect and rectify these things before it is let.

Location was good as we could easily walk to the lake, shops and eateries. The house was quite well equipped with kitchen and laundry appliances.

The house looks quite tired and needs some repair and improvements. The radiator in the top attic bedroom and bathroom did not work (altho a small unit was placed in the bedroom). There was a charm to the cosy place if you can manage the narrow almost vertical stairs over the 4 levels from the kitchen basement to the attic room. And there should be a place to hang our jackets at the entrance although boots/shoes were well catered for.

Communication with hosts was great, they provided all the information we needed to be able to fully enjoy our stay. The property was lovely, it had everything we needed, was clean and in the perfect location for our stay.

Stayed here two nights, we loved it. Communication was excellent. House was spotless and well maintained. There was even a Christmas tree! We would definitely stay here again.

Upstairs radiator wasn’t working but they put in an electric heater instead.
