Emmetts on Exmoor - A West Country Wilderness

Beautiful scenery. So quiet and peaceful. Lovely house, very warm with the range giving off much heat and upstairs has a very warm water cylinder in one of the bedrooms airing cupboard so your towels are dry and warm in a couple of hours. Also the wood burner gave out much heat, plenty of logs and kindly for 2 nights. It was nice to have some tea towels , washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets supplied too.

Unfortunately there was some suspect marks on the linen in one of the beds. I told Shelley, who wasnt aware of this as her linen is supplied so I am sure she is going to look into it. Bit of a trek to drop off rubbish at main gate and probably need your car to take it down. The bath was lovely and hot. The shower not so much and the water pressure upstairs low.

Location good a little out the way for shops etc.

The property could do with a few matetance jobs done. Ie radiator in the lounge did not work, and the log burner not quite big enough.

The location was lovely, spacious with mostly everything we needed. Comfortable beds, washing machine and dishwasher was a bonus.

The property was only surfaced cleaned, dogs are allowed and we took our dog but it was not pleasant to find lots of dog hairs in the bed, multitude of dog hairs on and under the sofa cushions, very grubby mattress cover on one of the beds with blood as well, toilet base very grubby, crumbs all over the kitchen table when we arrived, just generally needed a clean. One would think that mattress covers would be washed and beds and sofa hoovered in between stays. The living room is a very depressing navy blue coloured ceilings and walls and is very dark. A hairdryer is listed as one of the facilities but wasn’t there and having had a shower and washed my hair was told by the owner that one could not be provided.

Disgusting! Never again. I booked here for my family and they had booked another family in who wanted to stay longer. They did not apologise and then would not refund my money. Completely ruined my daughters birthday who had traveled 5 hours to get to the property.

Staff are appalling and have no customer service skills or morals.

Self catering so breakfast was down to us. The location was perfect for walking the Macmillan Way West.

There were not enough glasses, cutlery, serving dishes to make it comfortable for 6 people. Also not enough seating in the living room.

Located on a farm in exmoor national park so great views, comfortable accomodation with good facilities. Clean house and a really comfortable living room for the family to relax

Response time of host... Questions we had we were redirected to emails we did not receive and an information book that did not have information we needed, though we looked. Sometimes guests may not receive the information or cannot find the information needed so need answers or solutions. It was cold in the nights so a working lighter would have allowed us to keep warm with the wood burner and if this is raised then it's better to provide a working lighter as the one in the house did not work. Wifii we only connected second day. I could not see the password in the book though I looked through every page. Shower needed to have more power. Otherwise all good.
