Villa Mateo with Private Pool

The villa met all our needs and more. It is only a shame as we went in late March/early April it was not warm enough to use the pool or the outside entertainment and facilities in the evenings. The host was excellent and helped identify a supermarket open on a Sunday for our arrival and provided other local advice when needed. Just 20 mins drive from Dubrovnik Airport and 40 mins from Dubrovnik itself. It was also well located to visit Montenegro (outside EU). But recommended to use the border crossing at the very end of Croatia rather than the one on the main road which had horrendous queues due to EES. Herceg Novi and Igalo are in easy reach, whilst Kotor (about 100 mins or more is well worth a visit). The whole region is beautiful.

No issues with the accommodation or hosts. But if going into Bosnia & Hercegovina note you need to head up towards Cavtat/Dubrovnik to use the border crossing there and not the one Google Maps shows near the villa. There is no crossing possible there - discovering this added quite a bit of time to our trip to Bosnia before we found the open border crossing.

Amazing place to stay. Had fun in the spa and playing pool at night. Would definitely stay here again. Super clean and tidy, very large beds and recliner sofas. Really a great place to relax. Thanks for the great stay.

Very nice pool and other games and facilities. The house had a great view and nice big rooms and kitchen.

There was just no wifi for long stretches of time (including one whole day).

The apartment and amenities were lovely - and the view, just wow! Lovely hosts too who provided lots of very helpful local knowledge. Would definitely recommend!

Peace and quiet

Barbeque could have been cleaned between guests. We didnt use it.

The property is spacious and has great facilities. The pool, games room, ball games court all helped add to the experience. It was also very peaceful and quiet - away from the bustling crowds.

A few more items in the kitchen would have been nice - a greater variety of glasses, sharp knives etc.

Whilst this isn’t a private villa, the owners live on the top floor, it is very spacious and with full and exclusive use of all facilities, feels private. Fully recommend the winery for a meal and fine wine, 2 minutes walk from villa.

Location was really remote, but nice as we were looking for isolation and private time. The outdoor living was everything with private pool, really nice grill and all the all the games possible..

It was so nice, it would not be big investment to have few wine glasses and knife for bread... basic kichen equipment needed.
