The Victorian Charm Retreat

The property was a good size and location for us to attend a family wedding. Kitchen was well stocked with pans/crockery/ utensils so we were able to cook for ourselves. We were only a party of 5 so didn't use all the facilities eg the sofa beds - in fact we didn't use the front sitting room at all. Communication with hosts was good.

There was a slight delay on getting into the property as the code had been changed although hosts dealt with this immediately. 'Parking on site' is actually parking on the road outside the house, which requires your car registration to have been submitted to Manchester City Council for inclusion on a visitor's permit. The hosts arrange this for you. HOWEVER - make sure you get proof of registration (eg a screenshot from hosts) BEFORE parking as we ended up with a PCN. Manchester City Council say our reg wasn't uploaded until the Saturday evening after our stay started on the Friday afternoon and we have ended up having to pay the fine, despite the hosts also trying to dispute this for us.

Overall, the house was very good. Hadn't heard from the agent before we arrived with the code for the key safe, but a quick phone call and a few minutes wait soon resolved that. I'd definitely suggest access to a second key, even if you leave the second one in the cutlery drawer instead of the key safe, but I understand the issues in doing so in case a guest leaves with the key, as that would entail changing the locks. There was plenty of crockery, cutlery, glassware, etc.. for our small party of three, and a short bit of head scratching to figure out the oven controls, but generally we found everything to be intuitive and easy to use. Due to the location, we rarely heard any street traffic of passing cars, and only heard the occasional dispute between neighbours, but that's not an issue with the house itself. High ceilings are always a plus, as it avoids any feelings of being cramped. The event we attended over the weekend has already confirmed their dates for 2026, so once I can get the dates available on here, I'll book again.

Not that the agents are at fault for this, but the house held onto the heat and wouldn't let go. It only cooled down enough to enjoy things on the day before we were due to drive home. I'd definitely bring some fans along if you're planning on staying when the weather is unseasonably warm. I've sent the agents an email that details some things that I noticed, and a list of possible ways to resolve the issues I've seen, so I'm not going to repeat them here.

Really lovely house with lots of space and character. The children loved the loft room.

The bed in the main bedroom had a bit of a dip in it but so woke up a few times.

A kapunyitó kódot nem kaptuk meg időben. A szállásadót telefonon nem lehetett elérni, emailra nem válaszolt. Több mint 3/4 órát várakoztunk a fáradt gyermekekkel az utcán a szállás előtt, mire nagy nehezen a Booking oldalon válaszolt a szállásadó. Nem találta meg a deposit utalását, ezért nem küldte el a kapunyitó kódot, pedig mi utaltuk időben. A szálláson nem volt annyi ágy, amennyi a leírásban szerepelt. Ez a szállás nem alkalmas csak 8 (max. 9 fő) elszállásolására. 1 fürdőszoba van egyben a WC-vel. Nem raktak ki annyi törölközőt és ágyneműt ahányan érkeztünk, ezért kénytelenek voltunk vásárolni, sőt még egy matracot is. A berendezésre vigyáztunk, azt el is ismerte a szállásadó, de a mai napig nem kaptuk vissza a kauciót. Pedig már mindenféle lehetőséget (bankszámla, paypal, britt bankszámla) megadtunk. Nem ajánlom senkinek!

Very comfortable and spacious house with everything you need. Quiet location, clean facilities, extremely comfortable beds, responsive host, Morrisons Daily 5 minute walk away, free parking on street.

There's only one bathroom/toilet which was fine for the 4 of us but maybe a bit more challenging for a bigger party.

Everything was fantastic.
