Camp Estate by Larnach Castle

Breakfast was fresh and high quality ingredients.

Would have liked an email reminder for arrival details but otherwise could not fault the exceptional and personal attentiveness. All the staff members were fantastic and very helpful

Palatial premises. Excellent staff. Great meeting other tourists to share our adventures with. We also enjoyed the Trust the Chef degustation dinner. It would be great if the chef could come out and speak with the guests.

A luxurious experience - a real treat in a beautiful location close to Larnach Castle which is a place dear to my heart.

The rooms are very luxurious with beautiful amenities. The bath tub was huge, great views from the property. The staff were incredibly helpful & kind. I did not realize breakfast was included so that was a nice surprise to have a home cooked breakfast to order. We stayed for 2 nights. Thank you so much. Also the pillows and bed were 10/10 comfy!

Camp Estate is located on a fabulous spot just a short drive away from Larnach Castle. The property is exceptional and beautiful with the entire team there being welcoming and friendly. We were a bit apprehensive about what to expect given this property is at the upper end of accommodation available in Dunedin (and not cheap), but we weren't disappointed and the entire stay and experience was enjoyable. We met some lovely people also staying at the property and enjoyed their company at dinner and breakfast. We had dinner at the castle (booked separately) but a small and lovely touch was that our host Amy remembered that it was my birthday and had organised with the castle team to provide a small dessert cake and candle! The cooked breakfast and selection was also exceptional.. thoughtfully prepared and served by the lovely morning team. We stayed in Room 3 which had the best view and were blown away by how peaceful and beautiful it was outside our window.

Nothing major but a couple of things that I think could really elevate this property to the next level - we noticed that the guests had to carry their own bags in and out. I know in New Zealand this is fairly normal, but we have stayed in locations overseas were there is a porter service at the door (at least on arrival), which just adds that little additional touch of class and exclusivity that Camp Estate is missing as a first impression, but can easily implement for a memorable check-in experience (I must mention though that we were asked if we needed help with our bags, but it felt like the correct response is to decline the offer - if we really needed it, I'm sure they would have been happy to help). Also, we stayed in room 3 and felt the air conditioning/ventilation system wasn't quite effective (reduced the thermostat right down but had no effect). It was a hot weekend and we ended up having to sleep with the windows open just to get some air and ventilation passing through (but still wasn't quite as comfortable as it should have been). Perhaps a fan or something similar might be a nice bonus addition to the room to help on days like we had. Heating options are well covered for the winter however.

The place is new and beautiful,a bit far away from Blue penguin Pukekura, a little tricky driving back .
