"Affordable, convenient location, clean bed, no amenities."

6.0

Location was convenient right off the highway and near to UConn Health. Price fit my budget. It felt secure because there were keycards required for access from the lobby into the elevator/room area. Parking was ample. Grocery stores, gas station, package store within walking distance. I appreciated that the mattress cover covered the ENTIRE mattress and not just the top. It was waterproof and I felt it was clean and I had no concern about bedbugs or filth. The air conditioning and heating unit was efficient and quiet. There were hangers and a laundry basket in case I needed the onsite laundry.

This is a budget hotel. I was happy with the total package as-is for the rate I paid. I was definitely surprised that the hotel did not provide what I refer to as the "assurance roll" of toilet paper. You know, the one that you think you won't need in a two-night stay, but that you are very grateful to have on the shelf in case of the real, or imagined, unexpected in the restroom. The roll that ass-ures you that it will actually be ok if anything you could think of happened in the bathroom (nosebleed, food poisoning, menses, vomiting, diarrhea, makeshift napkins and tissues). I felt deeply concerned as I sat on the throne and noticed that the undressed roll which was partially used was the only one in the entire hotel room. Thankfully no emergencies occurred. The only toiletry item other that the half-used toilet tissue roll was one bottle of shampoo... There was no bar of soap, conditioner, hair dryer, iron nor ironing board, paper towels, closet, extra blanket, safe, dishwashing soap for the kitchenette, mini sponge, and definitely no lotion. There is a kitchenette and a full sized refrigerator in the room which seems to be a plus, however, there are no utensils, pots, pans, dishes, etc. A bit odd, but it recently changed hands, so hopefully that comes soon. I did not like that when I got out of the shower, I walked 5 feet to retrieve the bath mat to dry my feet, and when I stepped on the bath mat, my feet left dark brown marks on the white mat. That means the vinyl floors are that dirty :( Overall decent place to stay, especially if on business and you are not spending much time in the room.

"Not as advertised, and maybe it shouldn’t be advertised at all."

3.0

The location was central to my needs, with a grocery store, gas station and Dunkin coffee close by.

When I arrived after a long day of travel I checked in, and went up to my room, only to find out that it was already occupied. I went back down to the lobby and found out this had happened to other guests. The manager was very apologetic, and had the attendant go ahead of me to make sure my new room was not occupied, which it wasn’t, but it also wasn’t occupied by any towels. I was told the manager would bring them up, but that didn’t happen so I had to wait until the morning and go ask for them myself. I also had another guest tell me that she had just found a roach in her room while I was on my way to my new room. The two nights I stayed were filled with people playing loud music, kids crying, dogs barking, paper thin walls, and at 2 am the second night I awoke thinking I was under attack, only to realize my bed was shaking back and forth from the people getting busy on the other side of the wall. For real. I almost yelled for them to be finished but didn’t want any trouble. So I just laid there. The mattress was like one of those pull out sofa beds from the 1970’s, very thin and lumpy, with a rickety frame, so the website pics are very misleading. Speaking of pics, I am including one of the turned over garbage in the hall that stayed there all day, even when the cleaning cart was right next to it. I will say the manager was kind, and I did feel bad for him because he was there both days, without much of a break and seemed to be working a double. Lastly, the elevator needs some serious help, or a fan installed because it smelled, and was about 100 degrees hotter than any place elsewhere in the building. The owners should be embarrassed because it seemed like a pretty sketchy place overall.
