"Until there is work done… do not stay here. You’d be better off gettin g somewhere a bit more expensive for the faciliti"

1.0

The kitchen was nice and the living room. Clean bed sheets close to shops

The shower did not work… the bed was really uncomfortable. There was a radiator plugged into the wall but was leaning against a power socket that had burn marks and I had to unplug it as it was a complete safety hazard but it was very hard to get to the plug to turn it off since the boiling hot radiator was on it and I could have burned myself. The place over all was not really clean I have stayed in really run down hostels which this room I stayed at here look like a 5 star hotel. I felt that the property owner was not too nice and came across a bit dodgy. Saying there was a late check in fee charge of £10 even though it was stated no where on the description or Extra details and I thoroughly looked through everything and I have screen shots. I feel if I hadn’t of mentioned anything about coming late nothing would have been said because the owner has a lock box to get the key I felt the price was a bit expensive considering I couldn’t take a shower and I was not advised the shower was broken… The door was broken too and it was hard to get the key In. I felt the owner asking for my WhatsApp number to do the rest of the business over made me uncomfortable. And I feel that should not have been done over there

"Lovely, welcoming, comfy - punches well above its weight"

10.0

Well goodness me. I stayed here with simple and modest expectations for a short secondment to a different workplace - didn't pay too much, didn't expect too much - but was surprised to find this place punches well above its weight category. This property is well located in an ordinary but good terraced neighbourhood on a main road a fairly short walk out of Bolton City Centre - more than 5 mins, less than 10, easy to get to The Interchange etc. Good options for affordable stores, local minimarkets, pocket-friendly takeaways of every type, quiet and reasonably safe. Now the owner was certainly correct do describe it as a box room, you couldn't really describe it as anything else - but it was so pleasant and plush, cosy and comfy, clean and dry - a good quality rough towel provided too. What really struck me though, was that the neighbourhood seems nothing special from the outside, and neither does the house. Step inside, though, and the home seemed almost palatial - so modern and clean, beautifully fitted out and well appointed, nice modern kitchen, modern conveniences everywhere and soft carpets. I felt like the owner had really 'worked the maximum with what they'd got' and I was staying in a detached house in Bacup, even a nice view of a lake out the back window! Also the small things, like a space age fridge, modern cooker, all low volume plus floors that didn't really creak if you got a work call early in the morning. You come downstairs straight into the kitchen, a help when you want to minimise your noise. I felt the washing machine would transport me to another galaxy if I climbed in. Although I never met them in person, the positive communication and helpful manner of the owner were first rate, and made everything seamless when I was doing a lot a travel and extended shifts. Had a nice ethnic meal on the main road close by too.

It's not a negative or a complaint, it's just for awareness. Because of the property type, age and layout the stairs are at quite a steep angle compared with the usual, I brought my three rucksacks up one by one instead of all at once. I'm not saying this is the Savoy etc, you're left alone to serve and sort yourself out etc - but for an affordable box room in a terraced house walkable to the middle of town, you really are getting a positive surprise in a beautifully kept, well appointed and well located property (plus nobody bothers you, not other guests or the owner etc). Will visit again!
