PollyHouse - Apartment

This is my first negative review on a booking platform. But what we experienced was terrible. Be careful the owner is inadequate. We left our stuff in the apartment and went for a short walk. When we came back we couldn't unlock the lock of the apartment, it was stuck. Even neighbour tried to help us, but he couldn't do anything either. We spend a couple of hours by the door. The landlord only picked up the phone after the fourth time. The owner apologised at first. He said the previous guest broke the key and dishwasher. He offered to pay for our dinner at a local pizzeria while the door was being repaired. Even though the evening was ruined, everything seemed to work out. During dinner, something unexpected happened. A man walked in, speaking broken English without introducing himself. It was host of apartment. He blamed us for the lock issue, saying we didn't know how to use it properly. He made strange claims like "Everyone in Italy knows you can't turn the key all the way when locking" and "In Italy, it's illegal to fully lock a rented apartment" and so on. Being almost 40 and owning a house, we can manage doors, even Italian ones because its not our first stay in Italy. He said that the lock had been changed and we understood that we had to pay for it, we didn't agree. When we got to the apartment we saw that no lock had been changed. What??? He did not allow us to fully lock the door, it was just clicked shut all night, which felt unsafe. After such a strange scam like interaction, we were very uncomfortable sleeping there. He didn't pay for dinner, as he promised, which was another of his lies. If it happened to us it can happen to you too. Be aware.
